I have just compiled this which may be of interest:

Liam2673ParticipantReally enjoyed looking at these.
Just about the only thing I can relate to is the Smithfield horse market, then as now a magnet for photographers.
Anyone who says the economic situation now is worse than in the 1980s should take a look through.
Could you tell me what the building is on Page 15?
Thanks.
iophotoworksParticipantA great work of classic photography! I studied in Dublin in the 1980s and remember the streets being full of such characters and scenes. Really enjoyed looking through it. Thanks!
gsParticipantthere is no building on page 15 ! not that I can see.
Check page number & let me know if need info
cheers,
GerryMarkKeymasterGerry,
Wonderful work. Really my kind of photography. Well done.
Have you had an exhibition of this work ? If not you should !
WIFTMemberGreat stuff Gerry. Thanks for sharing these. I’d agree with earlier comment “love to see these in a gallery”.
oconParticipantdavedunneParticipantExcellent – Really liked looking through the photographs. Thanks for sharing.
stevebMemberIt looks far older than the 1980’s. I loved this, I would buy your book if I could afford it. Facinating to see Moore Street as I once remembered it. It’s so differnt now, but the there still are strong traces of what you captured back then. It’s interesting the to note the glaring difference in quality between that work (which was obviously completed using film), and the current work on your website (which is obviously digital). By that I don’t mean a difference in ability, just the quality of texture and spontaniety. Long live film.
Ger 208kParticipantMy interest in photography started in the early 80’s so I can really relate to those images. You have a great eye for composition. Really superb work. They are definitely worthy of a gallery.
b318ispParticipantGreat series that really capture the character of Dublin. I really like your use of people in shots of static subjects.
BelishaParticipantHave to say very very enjoyable, wonderful to look at and well done for completing the project and publishing. Very fine work. I would just like to add a comment about some of the text just to be helpful and hope it is taken this way. The book is expensive (and should be as these images are very rare). However, there are typos or whatever and maybe they could be changed when editing in the future. Here goes. Character, provenance, Sunday (caps for days of the week?) 1970s (no need for an apostrophe although it is seen a lot) and ingrained is more usual than engrained, I think. :D
gsParticipant…many thanks for all the encouraging & helpful feedback.
As I have more material to add, am putting together a print collection for showing sometime in the not too distant future.
Will keep you posted when happening.
If anyone knows from experience if this project could be grant funded to publish a better & less expensive book, please let me know.
Belisha , you could be the valued proof reader !
thanks all..sirvadMemberIOPParticipantFantastic series of photos from an era that seems far distant in time. A book of this kind for the year 2035 starts right now. Who’s capturing the Dublin of today in such a methodical manner?
Thanks for sharing. Book is ordered for our student’s library and is on it’s way,
Dave
