Some quick scans of medium format project with touch PS. Dun laoghaire Sea Baths.
The full set is here

Any feed back greatly appreciated, especially darkroom techniques for getting a more ghostly effect.
jb7ParticipantI particularly like the last two here,
and the first-
also the last few on flikr-Its a little bit difficult to tell what they’ll be like from these scans-
looks like you built up some density in some of the negs-Not entirely sure what you mean by a ghostly effect-
and its too long since I’ve done any printing in a darkroom anyway-
However, toning might be one thing to try-
though the effects can be very subtle-Don’t know too much about that myself though-
Really worthwhile looking project-
and, I’m sure, more difficult than you’re making it look-j
RobMemberNumber four is superb, a stark and beautiful composition.
There’s nothing I don’t like about it.
I’m also drawn to the first image of the set, though that
horizon does niggle ever so slightly and a quick fix would
probably put it on a par with the fourth.
Unlike Joseph, I know nothing at all about working with film
and the difficulties involved, but I definitely like what I’m
seeing here. Post more please…Rob.
gavinParticipantHi jb7..in relation to the ghostly effect, bad choice of words what I’ll be trying to get is even tones and a bit of a washed out effect, i assume when printing that using low grades such as 1 -3 would give a washed out effect. . Thanks for the feedback.
Rob when you say ” the horizon does niggle”, do you mean the bowing effect in middle or something else???

On the first one the horizon is slightly slanted, nothing that a quick
rotation wouldn’t correct in a second…Rob.
gavinParticipantMeoParticipantAh the poor ‘ol baths, that’s where I learnt to swim with Louise kennedy shouting at us all like she did best!! For me the second and the third bring back the memories.
