Hello all, trying this again (post). On the site about a year now and have never posted as I found the method two complicated. On looking at 5fayte`s post of “Ladys Island lake” I came across his post on submitting photos, very good piece and thanks to John for that (great photo by the way. The rule of thirds was discussed also and I have an example of what John spoke about to Liam2673. Three of the same scene shot yesterday morning at 8.15 a.m at Dunany strand Co. Louth. 1st as shot, second in B+W and the third “white balance changed to Tungsten. 10 stop filter used.C&C very much appreciated..No.1

Removed the [img]before each photo and seems to have worked…………Thanks for looking,,shutterbugParticipantI think you are linking to the site rather than the photograph, not to sure how you
do that in Flickr, where is says grab the link on Flickr is just linking to the site, maybe
it is the other link BBC code?It can drive you mad until you do it once then its plain sailing, good luck! Some really
nice shots there.Jonnyp16vParticipantzeddicusMemberThank you for the comments, appreciated. I used the BB codes but am obviously not doing it right. Cheers
texMemberThat’s a terrific shot, I would go for your first one, then the B&W version.
Jonnyp16vParticipantVery nice image, I like all three, if I was to a favourite it would have to be the original.
5faytheParticipantHi Aidan,
I love this photograph.
I think it demonstrates perfectly that a photograph can work even
if the rule of thirds is ignored.I prefer the 1st but I like the other versions too.
Cheers,
John.
zeddicusMemberCheers everyone, I would agree with critique, I prefer the original followed by the black&white, I never change the white balance but was messing around. Its nice in a way but you can see a green halo around the sun, might look terrible printed….
Thank you John for setting me on track regards posting….. Oh!!! and used your framing layout. Been using Irfanview a couple of years to resize photo’s and borders to give an idea how the photo would look framed
Cheers,
Aidan
5faytheParticipantCheers Aidan.
As I have said many times I prefer pictures posted not to be framed as
the discussion can be about the frames instead of the picture.
That said I think the frames work well here. It’s good to see that the forum works.
I see we share a surname.
Distant relations. :DJohn.
snaphappyMemberKlarensParticipantYes!that’s a terrific shot, I would go for your first one, definitely number one!
zeddicusMemberThank you Klarens & snaphappy, appreciate you giving time to comment. And John, could be related! Somewhere for me to stay when visiting Hook head Lighthouse. Its a place I have on a to do list.
Cheers
Aidan
BMParticipantPlease post more. I really enjoyed looking at these and would like to see more of your work.
It was also interesting to compare the different processing styles/outputs.
richiehatchMemberAhhhhh my posts…. sorry…. I’m known locally for taking many pictures of these posts and some of my friends know them as Richies posts…! haha…! :D As it happens my mother in law’s father put them there. The family still live on the road down to that beach. My favorite beach..!
Anyway ye did a great job here. The first one is definitely the best in my eyes. The tones in the blue one are too saturated and unnatural looking. I do generally like blue toned images but that one is a wee bit too much..!
Here are a few of mine if ye want to look…
