I have to say again that since switching to RAW you pics are so much better from a technical perspective. Exposure, Colour and Sharpness spot on!

If you’re ‘perusing’ your files then you might want to light up the pipe and throw on the gown, cravat and slippers. ‘Perusing’ demands a bit more class whilst you can ‘gander’ in your tracksuit pants and runners.

    …and new socks!

I like how you’ve composd this first one Pat. Maybe a little too much space to the left of the boat? The second is an interisting rock formation but you must be tired – you left the sky without burning? It has potential, as they say.

    is this an improvement

You tell me. I think it is but it’s not my photograph. If you’re happy with it then it is an improvement.

Without a doubt! I selected the sky and adjusted the levels.

You certainly made a nice shot of the second one by touching up the sky. Like your shot above I tried to brighten an image I took today using the same method as you did, the only problem was I caught a very defined bright line between the two areas. Do you know how to prevent this from happening.

In it’s simplest form: Feather your selection by a largish number of pixels, somewhere between 100 and 200… it will help lessen the sharp line between the selected and the un-selected.
