E6 Developing – Fuji Lab, Abbey St.

I need to get some transparencies developed and understand the Fuji place on Abbey street is the last remaining lab in Ireland doing E6. I have heard mixed reports on the quality of their developing so I’d be interested to hear from those who have used them regularly.

In the past I used Repro35 who where great but now that they are gone I need a new reliable lab. If anyone knows of any other places offering this service please let me know also.

Is this PhotoCare you are talking about? Just left in a sheet of Provia earlier today … will let you know on Friday how it works out. Having said that, I know next to nothing about what sort of results I should expect, so my report will be more or less useless ….

    Peter,

I have used Photocare for E-6 development.
They are ok, never had any issues with any of my trannies from them but they are getting to expensive at €8.50 for a roll of 120.
It is getting to cheaper to do it at home when the Kodak E-6 kit costs €25 from Gunns and it can do about 20 rolls.

Craigavon Photographic Services do E6. On Tuesdays only, as far as I can remember.

I’m not sure as I’ve only heard people describe them as “the Fuji place on Abbey Street” but I guess it must be Photocare.

    Peter,

    they are called Photocare.
The problem I have heard from a few people is that their dev machine uses rollers which can scratch the tranny which hasn’t happen for any of my trannies they have done.
Repro used a different machine that pulled the film as far as I have been told.
I think Photocare can’t do 4×5 development but this won’t be a problem for a lot of people.

No, they do 4×5 all right. I left in a sheet to get done yesterday.

On a related note, they don’t do scans of 4×5. Does anyone know anywhere local that does this?

I believe Steve (stcstc) here does it-

I tried PhotoCare a few months back since Repro 35 was out of action and I can’t say I was happy with them; they processed a few 120s for me, but ruined them by cutting the individual frames obliquely and not always between frames (!), thus ruining 8 of my 6×17 panoramas…..never again!
So, I’m afraid, although I’d rather get processing done “locally” (well, in this country, nothing in ol’ Galway anyway), all of my E-6 needs (roll and sheet film) are being met by a great lab in Weymouth (profolab.co.uk) now.
Postscript: I had a few (fee) issues paying through money orders with the Weymouth lab, since they didn’t take CC; however, they’re now conveniently accepting Paypal.

If anybody is interested I have put a step by step guide for E-6 dev using the Kodak 6 bath kit at
    http://www.offshoot.ie/tutorials/57-film/61-e-6″ onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
Measurements are based on Jobo drums but I have include all ratios

hmm, thats what I was afraid of hearing.

    Hi,

I put 4 rolls of 120 (645) into Photocare last week as my processor is currently broken.
Got them back on Friday and they were prefect, no scratches and cut perfectly but at €34 for 4 rolls, I’ll be fixing my processor and going back to DIY E-6

I used Photocare last year for slide. Did pick up a few scratches and holes in the film. Very expensive also.

Bought the 5L Kodak kit from Gunnes – has so far been quite successful (so much so that I bought a C41 kit too).
