Ebay question
-
plainoldmeMember
Just wondering if anyone here has used the seller in question. Thinking of buying one of these and it’s damn cheaper than what I have priced in the shops!
nfl-fanParticipantPOM… I’d be cautious buying Lowepro gear from China as it’s more than likely a fake.
Quick search on eBay.co.uk – Same bag.. UK seller – cheaper:
This is a good deal too… good bag as well –

plainoldmeMemberThanks John!!
God my heads not with it today I searched ebay and completely missed that one
see your point about buying from china. I bought a bag almost a year ago now and its just far too big. Yhe dimensions were twice what was displayed and I have yet to take a flight abroad that will accept it as carry on luggage. Heading off again in about 6 weeks for a photography trip so I’m hoping to god I can get something decent before then!kenhParticipantHi Meghan,
agree with John that the Asian merchandise may be phoney – but if you are using a seller like this, the Power Seller flag means that they are
pretty solid from service viewpoint. Also, try this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B000YIYOJ6/ref=dp_olp_2/279-3040225-4155964?ie=UTF8&qid=1233587218&sr=8-2
as it mught be a better deal also.:D
randomwayMemberShipping is usually very costly if you are buying bags… if it’s something big and expensive, it’s worth it, but I would go to Halls Cameras or Berminghams just to avoid the hassle and the wait. Pricewise it should be similar… plus, you get an original Lowepro, not a chinese copy.
aoluainParticipantIts worth checking out the guys who have adverts here on PI.
Barker or birminghams, tell them you’re on PI you might get a couple of quid off
I have dealt with Barkers and find them very helpfull and knowledgable.Worth a twist anyway!
GCPParticipantI was talking to a guy in Customs and Excise just before Christmas and he tells me they are paying particular attention to items coming from Hong Kong, China etc. and are very aware that some people are buying on Ebay thinking its from the UK or EU only to find the item is being shoipped from above areas and they have no option but to add charges. They also have X-ray equipment to see whats inside.

yes,
a lot of the UK sellers are stating that the item is in the UK [in a very minute way technically it is] but is shipped
directly from H.K.easy to get caught.
plainoldmeMemberI suppose that is a downside. I guess I considered eBay as I’m pretty much stuck for cash but I do need something to hold my kit. Anywhere I’ve priced that bag it has been in or around €100 which is out of my league right now, so I kinda felt that the eBay route was my only option!
randomwayMemberI see at least one a month posted on adverts.ie. Just like this one:

shutterbugParticipant7dayshop had some Lowepro bags dont know if they still do , but
prices were brilliant, and no worry about customs (though technically
not EU I have never had any problems) I bought the nova aw for just
17.99 delighted with it, though would probably be too small for you,
I can fit body and two lenses plus usual batteries cards filters etc.GizzoParticipantplainoldmeMemberI actually emailed Morris earlier from the link that NFL posted, and received a reply within the hour!
All of their stuff is shipped from their warehouse in the UK, and is insured postage etc. with 48 hour delivery. Decided to go with that as they seem reliable enough, and having shopped around a little more I can’t seem to get a better deal anywhere.Shutterbug – I would’ve considered another bag had I not had my heart set on this! It’s just perfect for what I need.
will let you all know how I get on with this anyhow. thanks for all the advice and input guys :D
plainoldmeMemberSo I ordered the Lowepro fastpack 200 from Morris Photography and it arrived this morning! Three days after ordering!
I’m well impressed, so little hassle it was just great as was the price. Recommend these guys to anyone :DEnzymeParticipantI know the auction is well over and you’ve probably bought the bag anyhoo but I’ve bought several things from different resellers in Honkong on ebay and they are always really professional. I have bought a mamiya lens there and they cheekily wrote the lens as a gift and some worthless value on it and I paid no VAT. Well I’m VAT registered anyway so it didn’t matter but you see the point.
