Echo Boy – Cork

Michael O’Regan has been a well known (Evening) Echo boy for almost 41 yrs in St. Patrick Street Cork.

Here he is having a spot of food for himself, wrapped up well on what for him was a chilly Friday afternoon.

Had thought about putting this into the Street section, but as he’s so well known here in Cork,
I figured documentary might be more appropriate.

Nice capture Mark, I have seen him about Cork alright, I think it’s stretching it a little to call him a boy :)

I’d have put this in street myself

On the boy thing, they’re all known as ‘Echo Boys’ believe it or not :D

    Hi Mark,

He has the look of a bit of a character allright.

Nice picture and I suppose a bit of history.

When I was in Cork some weeks ago I was stunned to hear one of these
“Echo Boys” shouting out that he was selling the Echo.
He could be heard from streets away.
He was located outside the post office.
I have a photograph of him but I don’t think its this “boy”.

    Well done.

    John.

    Thanks John.

You’re right, there is another guy who is always outside the post office.
