hope they are not too big for most 19″ monitors……
My niece saying goodbye…she had just been out digging in the garden….
BrickeeParticipantThats a nice conversion, I would say the edited maybe sharpen the eyes a bit more and resize to 800 pix on the longest side. More people will look and provide feedback.
Jim
PeteMcDMemberEdited is much tidier- and looks seamless at this rather-large-on-my-13″-macbook size. A little sharpen (high pass filter on overlay, perhaps), on the eyes would be good as brickee has said, and maybe a gentle lighten of the eyes too. But you’ve done a great job. The fingernails are a nice touch!!
MTBIrelandParticipantThanks for the feedback…. resized now and tried to sharpen the eyes a bit… need to work on this technique…..
BrickeeParticipantI like fhe resized, revised version. Her Mother would be delighted with a print I would think.
Jim
MTBIrelandParticipantCheers Jim…..need to get my finger out now and get some prints made up of the shots I’ve gotten so far….
jb7ParticipantThat’s a great picture-
well spotted, and taken-In a way, it doesn’t matter too much what it looks like here,
the important editing will happen when you print it,
and it might very well take several attempts-j
RobMemberLovely candid capture. As Joseph said, the importance of editing
will only matter when it comes time to print…Rob.
Bartek WitekParticipantGreat capture. Lovely baby.
In my opinion this photo should not be to much sharpen. Keep it behind the shadow :)Bart
MarkKeymasterThe first image is good in terms of sharpening, spot on. The second I like as the face is a bit lighter.
So for me, a combination of the two is best.JB and Rob have a point in terms of its how it prints that counts. But that said you’ve sharpened and prepared
it for online viewing (I assume) and for that the sharpening is fine. For print, you’ll find that you’ll need to do a test print
of it and adjust (perhaps will require more sharpening) it accordingly.Anyhow, its a winner :)
MTBIrelandParticipantThanks for all your feedback….
I’ve gone a bit lighter with the face in the image below…too light…or can anyone tell the difference?? I’m working on a crappy laptop screen so its hard to see really……
Mark…. does your signature go to last months comp??
PeteMcDMemberHow did you lighten it? It looks like you dodged it? Some of the shadow areas have lost contrast and the face isn’t quite as well defined as the first. First for me on this one. Though the changes are very subtle and only nerds like us would notice!!
MTBIrelandParticipant:oops: yes I dodged it…. I will have to play around with it and see what I can do to keep the contrast… I’m also going to print them and see how they come out…. haven’t printed much before of what I have taken and never really thought about the difference between viewing online and printing. Sure I will see how they turn out. Might be back with some questions about preping for print….. thanks..
