Egg (not Eigg)

This is a landscape photo. If anyone wants to disagree I’m prepared to justify it.
Comments welcome.
andy mcinroyParticipantWas it hard boiled Pete?
I think that’s the one I dropped from my packed lunch.
That’s a landscape for sure. Joe Cornish has one just like it.

Pah! He wishes.
MarkKeymasterPeteTheBlokeMember-an expanse of scenery that can be seen in a single view
-description of a format which is wider than it is deep.
-physical environment, and its anthropogenic or social patterns
-work of art whose subject is natural
-features that characterize a particular district or region
-the view of an area
-space showable on a map, including all its features. The spot where this picture was taken is characterized by decay, detritus and destruction. The egg lends a contrasting reminder of life’s continuing strength in such a habitat and says, “Spring is sprung, even in this forsaken spot”.
StevieParticipantMark Boyle did a piece in the Seventies, called ‘Journey to the Surface of the Earth’.
This is the intent.
http://www.boylefamily.co.uk/boyle/texts/index.htmlHere’s some images.
http://www.boylefamily.co.uk/boyle/works/index.htmlBasically he wanted to document the earth’s surface by making metre square castings of parts of the earth.
I quite like Pete’s photograph, as it reminds me so much of this.it could be a good photographic project.

the ipf and fiap rules i belive would say this is not a landscape
because it has man made objects in it
# An expanse of scenery that can be seen in a single view: a desert landscape.
# A picture depicting an expanse of scenery.
# The branch of art dealing with the representation of natural scenery.
# The aspect of the land characteristic of a particular region: a bleak New England winter landscape.
# Grounds that have been landscaped: liked the house especially for its landscape.[/u]jb7ParticipantIts been a while since I’ve heard mention of the Boyle Family…
Definitely a landscape-
and the justification superfluous,
I wouldn’t have offered the chance of a justification myself-That said, it does seem a little contrived,
perhaps its the lighting? And I’m not sure if I like it,
it being too much like, Art, like…j
Just seen Steves bit about the rules-
ftr, lol…stcstcMemberOh just before anyone thinks i was being strong
I only put up the definition thing etc to play devils advocate, I actually quite like the image, although something about it dont site right, not sure what it is, will have to come back a few times to look

Eggcellent Pete.
Smiling as usual.Rob.
DenverDollParticipantPeteTheBlokeMemberThanks everyone who has commented. The photo wasn’t contrived, insofar as I didn’t move anything; I photographed the scene exactly as it was. I couldn’t see where the egg had come from, but I was struck by its pristine surface in contrast with the surrounding grot.
Thanks Expressbro and Rob for the appreciation.
Thanks Mark for letting the pic stay here – I don’t think it fitted anywhere else, except perhaps ‘wildlife’.
