Great Shot. Whats your verdict on the 7D Mk 2? Will be upgrading from the 40D in the coming months.

Well caught. Good control of the light reflecting off the water.

Excellent shot with stunning detail, very difficult considering the colour of the birds. Could do very well in a wildlife comp with this shot.

    Dave.

PS, I’d also be interested on how your getting on with the 7D mk II. At the moment I’m thinking about a 5D mk III or a 7D mk II.

Thanks Padraig, Dave and BM for your feedback. I only have 7d mk2 about 10 days and due to wet weather haven’t got much chance to try it out in my main area, I.e. Bird photography. However I am impressed with its handling and build. I can shoot comfortably at ISO 1600 at around 1/1250th sec in reasonable light and get clean shots. This also helps steadiness, as my canon 400mm f5.6 lens does not have Image stability.
The continuous shooting at 10 fps is great for moving subjects when required. The AF system requires a bit of experimentation, so thats work in progress.
One positive advantage over the 7d Classic is that using canon 1.4 extender I do not lose autofocus. Quite an exciting camera!
