EISA ANNOUNCE BEST PRODUCTS IN THE PHOTO CATEGORY FOR 2006/2007
EISA is the largest editorial multimedia organization in Europe, with a membership of 52 Audio, Mobile Electronics, Video and Photo magazines drawn from 18 European countries. Every year, all EISA member magazines come together in a European city for the most important meeting in the year: the election of the European Awards. From all products introduced during the preceding twelve months, each panel must choose the best equipment in each category. As an organisation populated by journalists, EISA moves with the times, continually observing the state of the art and adjusting its Awards categories to reflect the latest developments.

ThorstenMemberThanks for that Gerry.
I have to admit, I always view these awards with a healthy dose of scepticism. I’m sure there’s a great deal of back-slapping that goes on and they go out of their way to ensure that everyone gets an equal slice of the cake.
Why didn’t Canon or Nikon take both of the Camera awards, for example. And in all seriousness – as much as I’m a fan of Canon, the 5D can hardly be called a professional camera. It’s a great camera and lot’s of pro’s use it, but it’s nowhere near the level of an EOS 1Ds MkII.
ciaranParticipantAlso, considering Lightroom is still pretty much Beta its fascinating how it’s already won an award. Similarly, the Sony Alfa has been slow to sell and hasn’t nearly reached the volumes that were expected yet it still ranks.
Another sceptic here too!
jlangParticipantI’d say they were limited by what was released in the year in question. The competition wasn’t for the best camera, just for the best camera of the year. I imagine the 1D…., D2…cameras and PS-CS2 all ruled themselves out by not being released in the right timeframe so they had to pick either the D200 or 5D. Giving one prize to each is a bit sus, though.
GCPParticipantIndeed I would also take these with a large spoon pf salt. I found this to my cost when I bought the Fuji S2 a few years
back and found it so dissapointing I re-sold it a month later at less than half what I paid for it …..just to get rid of it.ValentiaMemberI was going to make the same point as ciaran about lightroom. I just got the beta for windows and while it is interesting it still has a long way to go. As a user of Rawshooter I qualify for a free upgrade to V 1.0 of Lightroom when it comes out. Looking forward to that.
