I was up at Portrush today, on the hunt for new caves.
I came back with these as well as some new caves that I will show you later. The Elephant Rock – 6 stop ND filter

cathaldParticipantWooly water Andy
A nice set as usual looks like you got some decent light, pissed on and off here all day
No 3 is the only one I’m not pushed on,the sky is great but I think there is to much of
the cliff edge in the shot or to much of the floral stuff the other three are superCathal
shutterbugParticipantThey all look great to me, colours are really nice, especially
the turquoise sea………are you sure this is Ireland???rc53MemberI like #1 and 2; not so keen on #3 — composition doesn’t seem quite right, though I think I know what
you are after.#4 is pleasant; but more exactly where is it?
andy mcinroyParticipantThanks folks,
I agree with you all about the 3rd. It doesn’t sit quite right with me either. I loved the sky but I just couldn’t quite position myself as the sunlight broke through. Also, I always have a hard time with whin bushes. I don’t exactly know why but I’ve never shot a good landscape photo that features them as a main subject.
Robert, this is the Wishing arch. It can be seen when walking along the top of the white rocks cliffs, just to the west of the big carpark. Hopefully one day I’ll get down into that cove to photograph it from the water. the only way in is by boat or abseil.
Wooly water Cathal? The perversions of a ND filter.
BrickeeParticipantDeeboParticipantNice shots Andy!
Loving the warm colours of the firsh shot and the sea looks great. Second is a bit cold to me and a slight warm up filter I think would really make this better.
Great set and productive day out for you
Deeandy mcinroyParticipantThanks very much Dee, Brickee,
I’ll try a white balance adjustment in the 2nd to see how that looks. Those first two shots were taken within minutes of each other but facing in opposite directions. Just shows you how quickly the light was changing yesterday.
MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantelephant rock is a stunning location. i am not overexcited about the images. the long term exposure suits every location but something is missing in the first two images. my favorite is no4 because it connections the season plant ginster with the wild cliffs and the irish weather horizon. Cheers MAdeleine
stdanevMemberGary McParlandParticipantAgree with most of the comments above Andy, great set. I too like the wooly water. :)
