Jay KingParticipant
Took this a couple of nights ago… haven’t had time to shoot in ages so enjoyed getting out.
C&C more than welcome…
Cheers…
Jay K
AliParticipantLove it Jay, really well spotted and excellently executed. I’d love to see this printed on textured paper. I think you might get away with sharpening the image another bit – just to give the edges and stone a bit more OOMMFFFFF…UMMFFF… however you spell it..ah you know what i mean. :)
RobMemberReally nicely exposed Jay, and well framed. Lovely lines and perspective. I’m beginning to
feel like the horizon police though because I keep wanting to rotate this image just a tad
clockwise – or maybe I just need to adjust my posture :?Rob.
Jay KingParticipantThanks for the comments guys :D
Ali – thanks for the praise… glad you like it. Will try and sharpen it up a bit… might get a chance to try it this evening actually. See how much more “UMPPFFFFHHHH” I can get out of it ;)
Rob – You’re right… and I hate when you’re right lol! It does need a rotation alright… and somehow(!) I only noticed it as soon as I uploaded it here, by that stage it was too late to edit… but maybe tonight I can do it. I’ll call ‘666’ ………That’s the rotation police…. get it… rotation… upside down… police… get it…….!?
……I’ll get me coat.
jb7ParticipantLovely job-
sharpened or not.
Lovely representation of the tones-I’m not sure if I agree with Rob in this case,
well, not without seeing the results of the suggestion-
There is a kind of tension present in the picture as it is presented now,
perhaps it could be lost by straightening-Only way to find out is to test-

GrahamBParticipantGreat shot Jay, there is a real sense of ” something is about to happen”
Really nice capture.
Paul HParticipantIs this created by HDR software, or did you have enough lighting to get this exposure with one shot?
Very simple choice of subject, with little or nothing to hold interest, but somehow it works.GrahamBParticipantI got it – nearly every line in the shot is leading to the door.
Whats behind he door Jay, whats behind the doorben4130ParticipantWould i be right in thinking this is a church in Whitehall? Great shot, i love the colour, the lines and perspective.
joe_elwayParticipantExpresbroParticipantJay KingParticipantwoah thanks for all the comments guys… :)
jb7, yeah even though the angle is slightly off I do think it adds to it somehow… kind of eery I think!? I haven’t had time to straighted or sharpen, but if and when I do I will post the edit.
Funny you mention HDR Paul H, because I went out with the intention of creating a HDR image – so with my cheap tripod as steady as possible I took about 15 different shots. The attempt at HDR was a complete failure due to my inexperience on said subject and also thanks to the cheap tripod that didn’t remain steady enough to keep the images identical. So after I tried that, I looked through the images a bit closer and found one to be really nice… Then all I did was pull the exposure back a little, slight clone out of some foliage creeping in and I got the above!! So it wasn’t a total waste!
Ben you’re right, it’s the church in Whitehall… well spotted ;) It’s the open corridor that leads to the church’s steeple tower (Now you know Graham lol!!!)
Thanks Aidan, the composition is probably my favourite aspect of it… to be honest I didn’t realise how nice it was till I saw the end result!!
And Expresbro, you’re not the first to say that it looks like a screenshot from one of those games!! It does have that feel alright!
Thanks again guys… great feedback.
AliParticipantNostalgia :D Looking at this again it reminds me of Get Smart – does anyone remember that programme :D
