It’s been a while since the girls have made an appearance here, so I got
them to model for me again….Jaz the Springer…
…and Holly the Retriever…
Rob.
jessthespringerParticipantJaz the Springer……… lol!
Two beautiful dogs Rob, did you add a bit of blur pp?
Sinead.
mgstParticipantRimaMember:) Two dreamy girls and two beautiful portraits here Rob :) Very well done :)
RobMemberThanks everyone….
Sinead: No blur added at all. These were shot with my old Zuiko 55mm f/1.2
at f/2, so it’s a very narrow depth of field with a lovely softening away from the
focal point. Nice bokeh eh?Rob.
jessthespringerParticipantYes, very nice bokeh, more effective on the second I think, makes her wee
nose all soft, great effect for this kind of shot.Good work on getting them to pose, I know how hard it can be, esp when
using a prime, is this manual focus as well then?Sinead.
RobMemberTo give it its full credentials, the lens is an Olympus OM-System
G.Zuiko Auto-S 55mm 1:1.2, and I have to use an adaptor to couple
it with my E-3, so it’s full manual with this…The effect is definitely better on the second I’ll agree; Holly is a little
more placid than Jaz and stays still for longer. But then again, I don’t
need to tell you what Springers are like. She’s almost eight now, but
you’d swear sometimes it was months and not years…Rob.
JMcLParticipantReally lovely shots Rob, well done

I have a border collie, which energy wise is on a par with a springer, and most attempts to take a photo on anything like the same level as him usually wind up with a noseprint on the front element. I’ve discovered a cunning plan lately involving holding a ball with one hand roughly where I want him to look, while taking the photo with the other.

ossie13ParticipantRob two great shots……………agree with John above wish my three would stay still for a nanosecond to get a portrait shot……………but they all run once the camera is out
Cheers Steve
p.s. Really nice B&W conversions!!
RobMemberDenverDollParticipantRob~~
Well I guess if one waits long enough..all good things come to this site.
These are so beautiful!
Proper portraits of two of the most lovely girls.
Like has been said..the conversions are perfect.
I do love the narrow focus..it really emphasizes those precious eyes. I want to just move in and plant little kisses on those faces! The girls and you both deserve so much praise…these are really sweet.
You’d have to have a heart of stone to not fall in love with these photos.
Shar
oh..and thank you for remembering!
RobMembershutterbugParticipantAww makes you all gooey, beautiful shots.
I have just acquired a little cocker spaniel she
is black and I am having great difficulty in 1. getting her
to sit still and 2. getting the contrast and lighting right any
tips Rob?ExpresbroParticipantLovely pair of portraits Rob… you’ve really caught them in a doggie introspective moment…
probably thinking about that last postman’s leg….
