With the Euro currently equaling 97 penmce on the GBP, is there any good camera sale websites that operate from the UK that I should be taking advantage of?

Some bargains when buying “Buy it now” items from the UK ebay site for items located in the UK. Your paying in GBP but getting the strength of the Euro. I bought a camera a few weeks ago, reckon the camera would have cost me 300 Euro more this time last year

I buy 90% of my camera gear on the web. Never really buy from shops unless its something I need in a hurry

Just go to http://www.ebay.co.uk and search for what ever your looking for. Find the items located in the UK. Pay by PayPal.com and don’t buy off anyone if their feedback is less than 98%

When getting second hand items always check http://www.ebay.com (US Site) as you get great bargains there also. Generally a bigger selection on the .COM site rather than the CO.UK or .IE sites. With the .COM site you can get stung for tax so factor this in

Whats a good price for EOS 40D. One for 550 GBP on ebay. That’d be less than 600 euro. Is that good?
Is there a good comparison site?

I had a look at warehouseexpress.co.uk, and I was stunned. The D3 I was looking at last year, which was around 4k euro at the time is now 2,5k. I don’t have any spare cash, but I’m sure tempted to buy one of those beauties from my savings and sell my D200.

On the other hand I feel sorry for the people living in the North and Britain, it must affect their ability to travel abroad for example.

calumet has them for £507.00 with a cashback which is better than the ebay price. Calumet are supposed to be very good, they have a shot outside belfast if you wanted to drive up, ring ahead though

I normally take the familly away for a few days between Christmas Day and New Years day – usually in the Republic. This year we’re staying away from Euro Zone – mainly because of the exchange rate. However, in the past there have been plenty of opportunities for us to benefit from the strong pound verus the Euro. Personnaly, I believe that we are suffering now from the decision by the UK government to stay out of the Euro.

In any case, we will definitely be staying away from a so-called “family” hotel in Donegal after the appalling treatment we received last year.

Check out Park Cameras at http://www.parkcameras.com I have bought quite a bit from them over the last year, prices are very competitive and service is excellent. They are also not too far from Gatwick if you were over visiting in that neck of the woods, well worth a look……..Mikka

Calumet, online or take a spin up to Boucher Road, Belfast, just off the M1. I think the Nikon D700 is available for about £1550. Bermingham’s in Dublin have reduced it to €2199 but God love them it’s a no brainer with the strength of the Euro. However this will not last forever. There has never been a better time for buying from the UK.

    Cheers, John

Have you had to pay import duty on stuff you bought from them?
They have some brilliant prices compared to the rest of the sites.

No import duty or VAT is payable since both juristictions are in the EU. Free movement of goods is one of the principles of the EU.
