Good pics Dallan, especially No. 1 – Would shave a little of the bottom.

Two excellent shots Dallan, first one being my favourite also. I would love to have been able to see the competition but it’s a bit far from Cork. What setup were you using to capture these.

Excellent action shot, the first shot in your second post is my favourite. Great timing.

thanks for the feedback all . :-)
shutterlight, i had kind of thought that i should have taken a bit off the bottom , you have just reinforced that ..i’ll have to go back to it ! thanks
dave, thank you..and yep , cork to donegal is probably a “little too far” . shame though , the competition is on all week . if the waves do as hoped there will be some good shots to be had!..although saying that, really you need a 300/400mm to get right in there!! unfortunately my telephoto is only the cheapo canon 55-250 is..which is very soft fully zoomed. so there was a bit of cropping and sharpening pp.
dave / claudio: all were taken handheld at : 250mm
aperture priorty , 5.6 (lowest f , fully zoomed) +.3 ex comp on a couple of them
and iso at either 200 or 400 depending.. to keep the shutterspeed above 1/600
    ai servo focus
how did you get on claudio ? you got a few nice ones yesterday.

yeah i think i took some better ones in the afternoon rather than in the morning. the fact that the sun was out allowed me to use a smaller aperture in some of them.. in the morning i was shooting at 1/750 iso 200 aperture 5.6 in shutter speed mode. However in the afternoon i tried to reduce the shutter speed even down to 1/250 and the results weren’t bad at all. i suppose the best way to compare is showing you a shot of mine.. talk about pressing the shutter button at the same time ;) ;) ;) ;)

ha :-) :-)…now that is funny. we shot at EXACTLY the same time!!! :-) , even the crop is almost identical …. yours is sharper and the sea is a nicer blue :x ….great shot ;-)

hahaha unreal… i cropped it copying yours after seeing it but just couldn’t believe how we managed to press the button right at the same time.. considering the speed they go at, a small delay would have meant a different picture..
and i suppose the fact that we were sitting pretty close didn’t help either ;)
