A shot taken on the holliers looking on to Valentia Island towards the Blaskets. A bigger version is available by clicking on the picture. The late evening sun is great for giving detail. Taken with a Canon 10D and a Sigma 70-200 2.8 lens.

Too much foreground for me,it makes the cliffs in the background seem incidental….unless thats what you wanted

Love the light, composition, colour, sense of distance and scale.
    Great photo.

I really like the depth in this one. However, I would love to see you take advantage of the strong pattern in the field borders by increasing contrast in that region. Also, try to brighten up the cliff-face to add a point of interest.

I really enjoyed the photo, thanks for sharing,

    Steve.

Thanks folks. Steve, I have a lot to learn about manipulating. I can bring it to a certain point but have to learn the subtler stuff like you mention. Good advice.

Noely, I really can’t see how the shot would work at all without the foreground, that’s what makes the image interesting, the difference in scale and of course the light.

Mick, thanks. I love the faff (new word to me) that you did with the dunes. That’s a technique that many of my shots would benefit from.

    Really good advice gang. Thanks.

Although when I actually follow my advice, I have mixed feelings about the result, I think I like the original better! Here is a quick edit:

Let me know if you want to know how it was done.

Ohh, yes please ;-) It looks interesting though hard to judge on the small size. I need more free time to play more with this stuff :-(

    Thanks again.
