Evening light
-
mervifwdcParticipant
We had an overcast sky all day long (No complaints from me!) and then in the evening, we had about 10 minutes of evening sunlight. This was Saturday Sept 1st.
Jay KingParticipantIm not sure about this one… I was gonna come back and look at it again, then post – but sure first impressions and all that…
I don’t think there is enough light on the newlyweds’ faces – or not that yo can see… with the sun coming from the left, would it have been better to stand the other side of them? Maybe there wasn’t a suitable backdrop on the other side?
The first thing I thought was that it needs a big rotation, clockwise… maybe 5 degrees or something… I think it would also help them stand tall and proud.
I do particularly like the stance of the man… the arm position is unusual but makes him look almost military like.
Hope that helps…
markcapilitanParticipantThere’s something not doing it for me here. I’m not a fan of the blurred grass in the foreground, not in this situation anyway. I do like the lighting, and think this was probably nicer than the usual front lit image most would do. Not sure of the location, but a landscape shaped, wider angled shot might have been nice – black tree background, and the B&G back lit. Who knows!
mervifwdcParticipantWe had shot loads of “safe” shots in nice light and with flash etc, and were finished the formals type stuff. We were walking down a hill (hense the angle) when I looked across and saw this. I think I’d prefer a landscape too!

markdonParticipantto be honest ,i think the couple will love this one. infact i like it to. well done.
Expo 2000ParticipantI’ve browsed a few shots in this forums and I really like this one.
I like the compisition, the blurred grass in the forground etc…
You’ve caught a great time when the light is unique. Afterall, you mentioned you done the ‘safe’ shots beforehand and so I don’t see why it’s a problem to capture a more artistic shot of the couple. If you see the opertunity – take it! And you did. Well done.
