number 4 doesn’t really fit with the set though (in my opinion)
markclehaneParticipantReally interesting set alright Charles and well spotted, although I kind of agree with Isabella about the last one not fitting in with the rest. I think #1 is spoiled a bit by the blurry diagonal in the bottom left and whatever’s causing the vignetting top right. Also, I’d like to see a slight tilt to the left on #3. Just my opinions for what they’re worth. I’m certainly no expert in this area.
By the way, why are you posting your pics at such a large size? Apart from taking a little bit too long to load for some peoples liking, you’re surely leaving your images open to being downloaded and mis-used.
Mark.Charles ONeillParticipantThanks Mark and Isabella for your comments. I am very much an amateur photographer, but always on the look out for a visually appealing image (to me at least). I haven’t uploaded anything to PI for a long time, as I found it a bit of a waste of time. I was looking for a forum were good criticism such as yours would help me to improve my photography, but apart from yourselves, and a small few other really good critics few are bothered to contribute.
I agree totally that the last shot is out of character with the rest of the series. I am just used to uploading batches of unrelated photographs to Flickr.
I uploaded these late last night Mark, and never even noticed the dark diagonal in the image. It really does spoil it all right. Thanks again for the positive criticism.PS. I would welcome any comments on the photos that I’ve posted on flickr if you have time to stop by sometime.
wirepicParticipantNice set of images alright.
I have the same problem as Mark with the size of images. It makes them slow to download which is probably reducing the number of comments you are getting. Most people probably won’t wait if they’ve go any sort of slow connection.
I notice that the link you are including to flickr is to the original image which are huge. Much bigger than most peoples screen can handle. Link to the “Large” image instead and they’ll load quicker here. You might get more responses.
Charles ONeillParticipantmiki gParticipantAaaaah, finally loaded. I agree with the other lads on the image size being used. It takes too long to load & people don’t tend to wait around. I really like #3, but would prefer if it was tilted a little to the right. I don’t think #4 really fits in with the rest of the set & think the distorted reflections of the people on the right could have made an interesting image. #1, as was mentioned is spoiled by the OOF diagonal line, but a nice image other than that. #2 doesnt really do anything for me as I feel there are too many plain windows in the rear building.
