Our camera club had an outing with a local falconer today, here’s 2 shots from
    the day.

Two lovely shots I really like the processing in number 1

    Hi Martin,

I’m not big fan of selective colour but #1 has someting about it
    that I like.
The grass in front of the face (despite being out of focus) is a little distracting although
this may have been outside your control.

I wondered while viewing what the full colour version or the
whole bird popped might be like.

The background is nicely out of focus in #2 but I can’t help feeling the
    bird could have been sharper.

    Well done.

    John.

    Thanks for the comments.

John – I see what you are saying. The grass I didn’t notice until I was working on the photo on
my PC. I’ll try and load up some other versions of #1 along the lines you suggest.
#2 could be sharper but I like the colours in it and the catch light in the eye.
    Thanks again for the feedback.
    Martin.

There’s a lack of sharpness overall in #2 and a lack of feather detail that ruin it for me.

#1: It’s rare that b/w works for me in wildlife. This isn’t one I’m afraid. That crossing blade of grass doesn’t help.
