A visit to Farmleigh in Pheonix Park resulted in this
photograph of the courtyard, nice place to visit!C & C welcomed :)

joolsveerParticipantThis is a very well framed shot. I would advise burning in the sky a bit to produce more detail in the highlights. If you used RAW it should make it easier to get back detail.
shutterbugParticipantThanks Dave, I am not using RAW (one step at a time :) ) and I am not great in
“potatoeshop” as someone calls it ! I have read a little about RAW and will use
it when I get a bigger memory card, I believe it takes up a lot of memory?Shutterbug
joolsveerParticipantYou are right there. I have a two gigabyte card in my camera and the indicator shows a capacity of 240 RAW shots or 597 JPEGs. For outdoor shots I find that I can usually salvage something in RAW when I could not in JPEG. So if I can I tend to stick to RAW.
If you are using potato soup you should try the Shadow/Highlight command on this shot and you may be able to get a better balance between the sky and the interior of the arch.
ExpresbroParticipantIn the same boat myself Shutterbug, as regards RAW and Photoshop. Agree with the one step at a time philosophy :D
Farmleigh is a lovely way to spend an afternoon…plan to bring my camera down there soon, hopefully when the Sunday Food Market is on…lots of photo ops :-)
Robbie
shutterbugParticipantI think I can fit 14 RAW files on my titchy card!! Will give Shadow/Highlight a go,
thanks Dave,
Robbie, I think Farmleigh is closed until March I was just lucky that I happened
to go there in the three days that it was open, is the food market a regular thing
there? I would be interested in going again when it is on.Shutterbug :)
ExpresbroParticipantIt is Shutterbug. Though it is only on at certain times of the year. If you keep an eye out on their website http://www.farmleigh.ie I’m sure they’ll announce it. It is a real local treasure. Can’t wait till they start up the summer open air music again. Usually have lots of good classical and brass music…lots of really interesting photo’s for sure.
