Fed up
-
ciaranParticipant
I spent yesterday walking around San Diego (with a bit of Mexico thrown in for good measure) on one of the few days I have off whilst I’m over in the US. Here’s one of the shots from the day. It’s the first one I’ve worked on, but I think I managed to get a few more keepers. It was interesting to see the look I got from a few people when they walked past me lying flat out on the ground in the prone position to capture this :)
I call it “fed up”
MartinParticipantReally nice shot, Use of DOF is great. Facial expressions and the way the dogs are facing is spot on. The out of focus pillars work really well and really add a sense of depth to the picture. Cant really fault it
Go easy on the Tequila in Tijuana :-)
Martin
PeteTheBlokeMemberGood photo. I like the way the shadows complete the background.
Acting in an eccentric manner in America might not be a good idea – we don’t want you getting marched off in orange overalls.
Aurora_esParticipantawwwwww!!! cute little doggies!!!
i really like the composition of this one!ExpresbroParticipantNice shot Ciaran. It has pleasing lines and nice exposure and contrast, and fair play for laying on the ground to get your shot.
I’m looking forward to seeing some people stuff from your trip…don’t tell me there isn’t at least one cracker in there :D
randomwayMemberClean, simple and tells the story. Thanks for sharing this. Nice DOF, is it the 70-200?
ciaranParticipantCheers everyone :)
Robbie: I have managed to get a good few street shots already. I’ll drip feed them over the coming weeks just so people know I’m alive and well on my trip :)
Pete: Yeah I forgot that Americans could interr people… hmm the things you dont think about when you’re doing something odd in order to get a shot.
Martin: I didn’t have any tequila in Tijuana. I did have 4 beers and corn chips for breakfast though
randomway: This is indeed my 70-200. It’s the only lens I’ve brought with me as I plan on picking up a Nikon 24-70 this week.
Thanks again for the comments.
AllinthemindParticipantDenverDollParticipantAdorable shot ciaran!
And perfect as well.As far as the weird looks..I grew up in SoCal…when you see someone lying on the ground with a camera..you wonder if you are being set up for practical joke
Alan RossiterParticipantI’ve been back to this several times wanting to say what I like about it without it sounding a generic copy/paste of other comments as it’s far more deserving than that.
This would probably be among my top 5 that I’ve seen from this site. The reason is its pure simplicity. There was a brief section on a Dublin based photographer recently on Nationwide who shot in B&W. What struck me about his style and resulting images was that they were just simple. No images of buildings with dramatic backdrops, extreme weather depictions or anything that looked contrived.
Your image, Ciaran, also falls into this catagory. Simple, effective and very likeable. Not enough to fault, well composed and converted (assuming not originally shot in B&W) and it looks interesting.
Well done.
Alan.
ciaranParticipantGrahamBParticipantCiaran,
I hadn’t commented on some of your recent shots because, to be honest, I really thought
you had produced a lot better work. This shot however is the triumphant return of Ciaran in my book.
I love the simplicity of this shot and everything about it really works very very well.Brilliant shot.
