Has anyone used the new EOS 7D?
I know it’s just out (1st September), specs are awesome!
Just don’t understand why it’s named EOS 7D and not EOS 60D. The reason behind that is that it’s not full frame, it sounds more like an upgrade to the 50D, although the SRP is €1600.
Either way, I will soon be owning one.
Piotr MMemberThere is no such lens that let you use all these pixels. Go for 5d mii if you need a good camera. Even 50d doesn’t give you more resolution than 12 Mpix.
Everything else seems to be OK. Fast AF. 8fps. Finally wireless control for flash lamps (at last).
If I were you i’d wait for reliable reviews first. I know I’m sceptic, but since book keepers and marketing guys produce everything (keep control upon everything) I’ve started to trust no one.MartinOCParticipantTry this http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=7-10042-10239
he seems to be a respected reviewer.
I’m not so impressed by the high ISO sample (reggae) but we need to wait and see….M
Shutter BugMemberThe 18MP isn’t what’s selling the camera to me, but the 8fps mostly. I also like the crop factor, that’s why I won’t buy a 5D.
I think it’s a stunning camera. I’m only buying in a few months though, not yet.
I’ve seen pics taken with a test model, I agree about the reggae photo, but no one camera will ever get every shot right.
Can’t wait to get one though, my last one was a 300D and before that a 30D and 1st was a 20D.
scasMemberfor the expected price (1700 sterling) you could buy a secondhand 5d 2, just about- once you go full frame you’ll never go back- it’s that much better and more

So go for 1d mkIII. With its 11fps it is like a machine gun

It’s also €2.5K minimum!!
I know, but it’s not lot more than expected price of 7d. I expect that high fps ratio is needed by professional photographer (somebody who really needs such fast equipment) or a freak who must have the fastest car, the fastest PC and the fastest camera. For real photographer the quality is the priority. Since we don’t know much about overall performance of 7d it is weird to declare buying such camera. Especially, when we know that huge number of Mpixels is not an advantage these days. Don’t you thing?
I know somebody who would like to use such camera for the very good reason. Somebody who works for security or as a private investigator.MartinOCParticipantPiotr M wrote:

Also fps can also be also important for people who want to take photos of fast moving wildlife, eg insects, birds or hares, and sports too.
Of course image quality is of great importance. But one has to compromise on one or the other.
