Hi folks I normally photograph motorsport and my wedding photography is more photojournalistic.I was asked though to take a few photos for a makeup artist to help her out.Heres a few from the shoot. All feedback welcome good and bad as I know there are some very good photographers here.
I used only a light reflector on these.
TinyMemberA couple of things… bearing in mind i’m no expert at this……
its better to embed the images in the post, rather than having to click on them and being brought somewhere else…. but however
the first shot is kinda dark for my liking… and there appears to me to be a big colour difference in the models hand and her face
the second shot i like , but personaly, if it were me i would have tried to move more hair from her face as the shadows on her forehead are kinda distracting
the third shot.. again colour difference between the face and the hands.. but i do like the sun reflecting of her earings
and finaly 4th shot… again colour difference between her face and neck.. collar bone.. shoulder…maybe i’m wrong about the colour difference.. but i think when they go to the trouble of making up the face, maybe changing the tone of the skin.. then they stick a white hand beside it.. it just draws attention to the difference in colour as opposed to having one fluid colour which does not distract you from the image
having said all that… i could be completely wrong, and as i said.. i’m no pro at photography.. just my 2 cents worth

LoGillParticipantI think for all of them (except maybe the first) the ambient light is very hard – .. you did well with the reflector but probably needed to use flash or move her ( gorgeous model btw ) to a more shaded spot where you can life shadow with your reflector rather than trying to soften harsh sunlight

BrocaghjohnParticipantThanks folks, posting the images I used the “add image to post” below the txt box.i’ll keep that in mind for future.yes the hands do look out fair point. The 1st image was in the shade and bouncing the light towards the model though I think i was abit rough on the editing afterwards.
thanks for the replies

PixelleMemberLovely model. The shadows on her face are a bit strong, and close-ups might be better for viewing her make-up.
harambeeParticipantLovely set of images and model
the second and fourth images would be my choice for the pose and for displaying the makeup as they feature the face better, however have to agree with the colour differences.
