Hi there, new to this site and looking for a bit of advice…. Have started the FETAC level 5 digital photography course and as part of it you need to submit a portfolio. We have to choose from one of the following….. Landscapes…. Urban…. Still Life…. Portraits. My interest would be in Urban and I’m torn between landscapes or Portraits.

For the urban I was thinking of doing a theme on the Luas…. night shot etc……

Just wondering has anybody else done this course and if so what standard is expected in the presentation of the portfolio???

    All help needed!!!

    Tks a mil

I did a similar course last year. The portfolio I did had to show that I can use various camera techniques and that I progressed from being a beginner to being able to take photos. They aren’t expecting you to have every shot in it an excellent shot, they want to see a genuine thought/learning process. Could be different with yours though.

You might need to make a separate portfolio if you plan to go to 3rd level, as they tend to be more fussier than the PLC examiners. A few friends of mine had to, as the way we did our portfolios was not adequate enough for the likes of DIT etc.

Thanks for that info…. did you have a theme or just random photos showing progression?
