Changing rooms or dealing rooms!!!
Lock away.
JMac-2006Participantinteresting set of pics – looking forward to the other side of the story
i particularly like the last image for some reason
alancotterParticipantThe only shot that really appeals to me here from a documentary perspective is the 5th shot, this is the only shot that gives me a real sense of what you are trying to get across, well from this set anyway.
The 4th shot as well has potential, at least that location does, personally i would have tried shooting it dead on, this may not be everyones cup of tea, but it could work, also that structure has two very interesting walls, the white tiled wall on the right and the striped yellow wall on the left. Both those walls/shops attract me straight away and you could certainly use your artistic license here, maybe go back in different lighting, weather conditions.
The first and sixth shot i wouldn’t look at twice, they don’t tell me anything about the area.
The Bent bars shot is missing something in my opinion.
I’d keep shooting this area, it’s got serious potential. You live there, you already have a major advantage over any other photographer who just waltzes in there, local knowledge is the best thing any photographer can have…
I’d try to involve the locals more in some of the shots, i don’t mean portraits, i mean a dab of street photography…
All the best,
AlanPaul WhParticipantHi Snap Happy,
like these ones, as you go down along the page they seem to get better and better, what about a mono conversion on some of them, make them a bit more gritty
thebigbejaysusMemberBY and large this collection of shots from the area works very well. You are motivating me to do something similar in my area which is an idea I’ve been toying around with for some time. The story comes across well for me as a photographical journey. I quite like the bent bars one. For me that one captures a certain kind of urban disconnected bleakness that housing estates, including my own, can give off in certain conditions.
Snap HappyMemberyeah thanks for the coments, the area in the park were the “sheds” are ie graffitt and chains etc has got some nice shots around rain and sun sets seem to work well watch out, im uploading the other side of the document today.
streetshooterMemberVery nice set – I’m particularly interested in this type of project as I’m from the “inner “city” too – look forward to the next!
b318ispParticipantI think they do paint a picture, especially as a series. I notice quite a few “halos”, probablt from processing – see the ramp sign as a particular example.
