hi all,
thought I’d post these up to see what people thought. Any/all comments welcome.
BallymanParticipanteasParticipanthi Ballyman,
They are a real couple I photographed in Marbella. As far as I know the only other time they’ve been in front of a camera was with me during their engagement shoot. The poses are attained by gentle direction and encouragement.
thanks for the comment
BallymanParticipantsummerdreamnMemberthese are fabulous! 2 is my fave. the poses are fantastic and i really like the post processing. i wonder though if they would gel all together in an album?
easParticipanthi summerdream,
thanks for looking and for the comments. I quite like no.2 myself. For what it’s worth I have a guy standing on top of the fence pointing a speed gun directly down creating that top light. It blew out the veil, but I don’t mind that.
As far as them gelling together….I guess the thing to consider is that for each of the images above there would be 5-10 images in that collection. I usually work each collection onto a double page spread. Sometimes I remove a collection or two if the portraits end up taking up too much space, or they just aren’t working as a whole.
AllinthemindParticipanteasParticipantthanks Si, interesting choices.
Personally I think the last one if my favorite. Although I’m undecided if I’ll remove the blue sky at the top of the frame.
jessthespringerParticipantThese are really cool, very different, almost like a fashion shoot.
I bet they love these? I like the high contrast in the first and the point of view is great, only thing that might have made it better if the bride had stretched out her left hand instead of her right, that way you would have gotten a little flash of her rings which might have been nice. That’s being picky though.
The second is lovely, very sexy and the blown highlight works well with the mood and atmosphere.
The third is lovely as well. And I think the last would look much better with the sky removed/cloned out.
Lovely work.

Thanks Sinead, that’s the attempt with my BnG portraits. I usually do one or two “safe” poses then go into this type of thing. I have LOTS to learn in the area of fashion photography, but it’s much more rewarding for me (and the BnG I hope) than standard couple posing. Usually I only have 20-30 mins to get these shots done, so it’s a challenge in that regard too.

you’re absolutely right. I noticed that myself and wish I had spotted it at the time.

I was thinking the same thing…but think it may be too heavy with it removed and it loses some of it’s urban appeal. Maybe cropping it would work better.
jb7ParticipantThese are great-
first one for me,
great expression in the hands-very good-

markdonParticipantRobMemberThese really are excellent, a nice approach to wedding shots. I’m particularly taken
with the first and third. Marvellous work…MichellaParticipantUnusual shots! Since wedding assignments typically consist of the more formal & candid pics, this type of photography will be valuable to you. I personally think it’s a “real” photography niche and not just a passing trend.
I like number two. It doesnt matter about the veil. Beautiful couple.
Michelle.
richiehatchMemberGreat work EAS…. I like em all… especially the 1st for me…! In the third have the couple been dropped onto that background…? It works but there is something about the toning that looks a tiny bit odd…????
