Came across this unusual (to me anyway) sight today of one side of a field covered in sunflowers. On the A5 road at Garvaghey, near Ballygawley, Co. Tyrone.
Thanks for the comments. Wouldn’t be worth travelling far to see as they only extend a few metres into the field, which also meant I couldn’t really get a wider perspective. By the way, i was passing again today and they had pure blue skies behind so I stopped for another few shots, as had another woman. While we were chatting and snapping away, the woman who owned the field appeared, very angry, told us we were trespassing and asked us to move. We both apologised, it was her land after all, and said of course we would move on. Turned out she was very nice and quickly calmed down. Apparently a lot of photographers have been there, and some have tramped through the flowers, damaging, them. Other people just stop and pick armfuls before leaving, and some have been aggressive when challenged. When she saw we were sticking to the edge and not picking, she stopped and chatted a while, explaining they were planted as a “living bird table”, and some local schools were involved. I still think she was glad to see the back of us though! First time in years of photography I’ve ever been asked to leave by a landowner.
