    JB,

I really love this type of image. Moments in time which can’t be replayed.
Thankfully people like yourself have captured them for all time.

I’d agree with every positive comment on them. Wonderful.

Great to see these Joseph – another history lesson and insight into how things change.

    JB,

Great collection of images, some are really strong, the In Dublin seller was such an important part of the Grafton Street scene, he is astill knocking around and makes an appearance in the film “Once”. The young lad on the derelict site and the tin whistle player are also favourites. How about the Diceman, anything in the archives.

I keep coming back to these. It’s not what I expected to see on a thread from you or indeed on PI. But, you have again made people think. Seemingly innocent throw-away images now will bring similar interest in many years to come. The styles, the processing of the time and the colour effect, the attire, the “unusual” backgrounds, the energy when the mid to late 70’s in the hard times. You also reminded me of the Dandilion Centre which, along with Hector Grays was a must-do location to get the parents to take us to on our usual visit to the big smoke. And of course, the lack of obesity.
Not alone were they well taken but they do have the “emotional buy-in”. Any more?

They are brilliant, I remember your man selling his ‘In Dublin’ outside Bewley’s, that’s gas and it brings me back to years ago. Dublin was great then, it has changed so much, wow I never realised that so strongly before. They are really great to have, they’d make a nice framed collage to hang up! I fondly remember the Dice man, he was so funny, I used to have a great laugh with him, wow thanks for that, its so special, thank you.

Wow, is this one still going?

Thanks everyone, for the embarrassment of replies-
makes me ashamed I didn’t do a lot more of this at the time-

There weren’t too many cameras on the street in those days-
and bringing one out might attract a gaggle of kids,
following you around, striking poses, pushing each other out of the way,
and saying ‘Take me picture mister…’

In a way, I’m kinda surprised at how modern these appear to me now-
though it shouldn’t surprise me- after all, the form of the camera is the same as we all use today-

I do have some more, but not many-
and I don’t have access to most of them here-
    they’re mostly in storage-

I only put these ones up because they had been lost, and I found them-
and I hadn’t seen them myself for so long,
it was almost like seeing them for the first time-

Eddie, sorry, no pictures of the Diceman-
I think it might have appeared too obvious to me at the time-
and anyone who had a camera on the street was taking pictures of him-

    Thanks again for the replies-

    j
