First attempts at Macro.

    Just recently got a canon 60mm prime macro lens. The photos above are some of my first attempts at macro photography.
    The 2nd photo is ice on an old tree stump.
    Any and all comments appreciated.

    Hi Martin,

    I like the first two shots but prefer the first one, The second one is good and quite abstract, I thought at first that it was a shot of the tide and I like that abstract slant to it.

    The first one is good but might work better in black and white as there is little colour in the plant and it is the shape that makes most of the impact. Have you tried converting to grey-scale?

    I don’t think the third one really works. I can see what you were getting at but it ends up like one of my own macro shots! The lighting’s a bit flat and you are perhaps too far away for a macro shot – the grass is a bit distracting. Getting in really close to the frozen veins in the leaf might have worked better?
