First Batch from my Holga 120 WPC (Wide Pinhole Camera)
-
davedunneParticipant
Here are a few shots from a Holga 120 WPC, a recent Christmas present.
These photos were taken with a 6×9 cm mask. I currently have the wider 6×12 cm mask in so should have some examples of that soon.
The 120 WPC is a medium format wide angle pinhole camera. I have written a brief description of this camera here for those that are interested.
jb7ParticipantThat looks good Dave, good pictures and review too-
Odd, the odd number thing-
perhaps the real numbers are too far from the actual frame;
my Horseman 6×12 back displays the proper numbers…Odd too, that the only way they could think of to improve the Holga was to remove the optics completely

davedunneParticipantI guess the Holga people are trying to save money by reusing the original Holga backs. The frame counter window on the regular Holga only displays the numbers for 6×4.5 and 6×6. So for 6×9 and 6×12 you skip a number for double the width. The window is offset to the right to account for this skipping.
Removing the optics is not the only way the Holga folks are improving their cameras. Check out these other Holgas which are available from http://www.freestylephoto.biz

randomwayMemberI was flirting with the idea of getting one of these cameras, but they are way over my budget.
What size are the actual frames, are they close to the 1:2 ratio?

6×9 cm and 6×12 cm.
davedunneParticipantLast night I developed the second roll. This one was shot using the wider 6x12cm mask. You then get 6 shots per roll of 120 compared to the 8 you get when using the 6x9cm mask.
Here are a few samples.
randomwayMemberThese are great for a start, they look much sharper than the standard Holga.. and at the same time they have lost that typical charm of imperfection. How long is a typical exposure.. do you use it on a tripod?
davedunneParticipantThe exposures were between 1 and 2 seconds. I used a light meter to approximate what exposure was required.
And yes, I did use a tripod.
bingbongbiddleyParticipantJust to chip in and say that these are great.
The very first one and the very last are my favourites.

Are these neg scans?
Yes they are. Unfortunately having access to a dark room is only a dream of mine these days.
