masteroftherealmParticipant
Canon F1 and a 55mm 1.2 :)
Silver Spoon and whatnot.
I was 10 :)I superglued them a year later.
And threw them out when I was 12.Their worth bout 2k now :)
joe_elwayParticipantMy first was a rubbish little Kodak Advantix which I got from a past employer at XMas. I took it with me when I went on a 4000 mile road trip around SW USA a month after 9/11. I took hundreds of shots. I took it home got them developed and was gutted at how bad the shots were. It was clear that (a) I was not up to the task (b) the cost of developing meant I should go digital to ween out the rubbish shots.
I bought an Olympus C220. I still have this 2MP jobbie when I need to stick somethign in my pocket. I had it on a return trip to the states in 2003 and when I was travelling all over Europe for my then job. Again, my shots sucked. Now I started to realise that there was more to photography to point and shoot so I was curious. I also wanted more zoom so the C220 wasn’t going to cut it.
My fourth camera was the Fuji D5500. I brought it to western Canada on another 4000 mile road trip in 2005. It did some nice stuff. I was only starting to learn how to compose. Hadn’t a clue about the mechanisms of the machine but was starting to learn. Was shooting loads (around 20 or so) bears in the wild and got hooked on wildlife. More zoom as needed. I started to get to grips with the camera mechanisms and now I wanted to go DSLR.
Then thanks to workmate who lived in Germany, I got my Canon 350D. It’s served me well and I’ve learned everything it can do. Lens collection is sloowly growing. The camera has been everywhere from Dublin Zoo, USA to Tanzania. Now, AF and FPS aren’t what I need and I’m dying to upgrade again but the bank manager isn’t smiling.
paperdollParticipantFirst camera ever was a a Pentax K1000 which I had to buy for a college course about 12 years ago. Never figured it out! In between I had various point and shoot cameras and a Fuji Finepix, before my new Nikon D70…..
Brian_CParticipantFirst was a Minolta 7000 and 18 – 70 lens which I still have. Bought of a girl in 1990 when I lived in UK. Still using the lens. Then I got a Minolta Dynax 7 last Chrismas off eBay. Great camera. Loved it. Sold that recently to move up to a Sony A100.
lightladyParticipantfstop89564ParticipantKodak x 15………………….got it new in the early 70’s…………wish now I still had it for old time sake
markcapilitanParticipant1st – minolta 404si
2nd – another minolta 404si
Now – Canon eos 3-hs, 10d, 1dMk2nabsolonParticipantSmena 8. It was an adventure, I never knew what’s coming out of it. The shutter speed selection ring was broken so I was shooting at 1/250 all the time… funny experience.
pete4130MemberPentax MZ-50 with a 28-70mm lens I think. It did the job at the time, but it now feels more like a kids camera or a toy compared to what I use now.
easParticipantmy first SLR was a Pentax ME SUPER 35mm. That served me well for a long time until a freak wave washed it off a boat while on holidays. It now lays on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Grand Canaria. I still have a SMC 50mm f2 M mount that I’l never use again, so if anyone has a pentax send me a PM and it’s yours to collect. I replaced the pentax with a Nikon F80.
My first “very own” digital (i had used many up to this point, but never had the confidence in them to buy one myself) was a fuij finepix s5000, then a D70 and now a D200.
jb7ParticipantEas, thats one of the saddest stories I’ve ever heard,
nearly as sad as the one that happened me
with a pair of sunglasses once,
and sadder than a similar occasion witha s zippo-Neptune is such a cruel god,
who doesn’t care
when you’ve been to the pub-j
positronMemberMy first ever camera was my dad’s “Agfa CLICK-II”, but I never managed to get any photos out of it though (I still have it).
First camera that I bought for myself was in 2000 – A Fuji Finepix 1200 – nice little compact digital camera – sweet 1.2M pix and it came with a 2MB smart media card! :D
A few years later I bought a Sony DSC 717, and recently a Canon 400D.
nolongerParticipantMy first camera was a Kodak DC215 (in silver, not gold). Then it was upgraded to an Olympus 3030z. From there it was a Nikon Coolpix 5400 and now it’s my good ol handy dandy D50, which I *love* :)
GrahamBParticipantOnly a newbie so my first was the Canon 350d. Still using it.
Waiting for the 40d to come out.
However just bought a 1965 Canon Pelix.
can’t wait to try it out.PhilMemberFirst camera was a Canon T60 bought new when I was 17, then a Canon AE 1 Program, next came a Canon T90 (great camera), followed by a Mamiya C3 TLR, next came a Mamiya RZ 67, followed by my first digital a Fuji S2, then a Fuji S3 and now a Nikon D200.
Somewhere along the line I swapped the T90 for a nikon F80.
Probably the saddest thing is I still have most of them! (And they all work, except the S2 I managed to fry the CCD in it)Phil
