First Photo Post – Belfast Lough

Well this is my first time posting photos on the forum, but thought might as well make the effort! I haven’t been out as often as I would like with the camera recently. On my way home tonight I thought the sky had a bit of potential to get interesting around sunset so I decided to take a walk with the camera and tripod on the coastal path from Bangor heading towards Carnalea. I think these are probably two of the better photos I ended up taking. Both were taken with my 350D using the kit lens. Any C&C would be very welcome!
Hopefully they don’t look over saturated – without making excuses I’m having, errr, calibration issues  I was a bit annoyed about the lens flare in the second photo, but I guess that’s always a risk when shooting in to the sun. Thanks for looking!
gavinParticipantThe sky in both is exposed well but your lacking a point of interest in your foreground and its very underexposed which is always going to be an issue shooting that much sky, are you using a tripod when shooting.
suspectmonkeyMemberThanks for the comments, I see what you mean about foreground interest and the under exposure. Both of these photos were taken on a tripod. I made a mistake and left my ND grad filters at home which might have helped with the foreground? I shot them all in RAW as well so maybe I can improve things in Photoshop, but I guess there isn’t anything I can do to replace foreground interest at this stage!
PD_BARBSParticipantWelcome to the forum. I agree with the previous comment. The shots would certainly benefit from some foreground interest, to make the most of the stunning sky. I also think there is too much sky in the first one and it would benefit from a crop.
But excellent sky in both.
Punk RockMembersuspectmonkeyMemberThanks for the comments. Was hoping to go again this evening to see if could improve on them in camera but the rain beat me this time… fingers crossed it clears up a bit tomorrow :)
