First Series of Photos for Crit

Hi there,
finally figured this embedding business out. I’ve had my camera for two weeks. It’s a Nikon D100 and the photos are mostly taken with a Nikkor 50mm f1.8; and the pictures of the robin and the flowers are taken with a Tamron 70-300mm. Any constructive critisism would be greatly appreciated. The robin and flowers are in Dublin, the rest are in Morocco.
thanks in advance,
Paddy
MarkKeymasterHi Paddy,
Welcome to the site !. You’d probably be better off posting into the critique forums with your photos into the appropriate
sections, that way you might get a better and more meaningful/focussed response to your photosCheers!
Ronan_YoungMemberI love the second one of the shadow, lovely colour and good vision, and the Cat is fab also
Have a question though How did you manage to embed the photos as I’ve been restircted to the 100kb limits and haven’t been able to find the FAQ detailing how to embed shots.Ronan
shutterbugParticipantWelcome Paddy,
As Mark said post in the relevant forums for a better response. Anyway I will have a go and
remember these are only my opinions :)1. Overexposed, very hard shot to get the exposure right as the Robin was probably well shaded and
harsh sunlight is hard to get right, I would have used the widest aperture, and upped the ISO a bit and
maybe even used a bit of flash……..by which time the robin would have been well gone….
2. Nice colours and shapes, would have liked to see a bit more of the lamphead maybe!
3. Again nice colours, but when you take a whole frame of small flowers the eye doesnt have much to
settle on, try to pick out one flower and get in closer using a wide aperture will throw the rest of the
flowers out of focus and you will still get the nice colour showing through.
4. Nice shot, I like the higher view point, well exposed considering the bright sun.
5. Like this one, nice cat maybe a little soft but nice all the same.
6. I would crop away a lot of the surrounding area in this shot and just focus on the
guy sitting down and motor bike leaving the two trees to frame the outside edge and
take the sky out and a bit of the foreground. As I say just my opinions, and I am sure a lot would disagree :)
