Captured this Dung Fly (I think) feeding on ragworth last week. Its my first serious attempt at macro, despite owning a macro lens for over two years! Had to get down low to ensure an uncluttered backround. Shot in Raw, tweaked and sharpened slightly in Canon DPP and slight levels adjustment to sky in PS. Would apprieciate some constructive criticism. Thanks
Good effort for a first try Padraig. I wouldn’t worry too much about a cluttered background too much. Most of the time the a macro lense will soften the background to such a degree that it will give some some nice abstract colours. Another thing. Get in closer to the subject. :)
