Very good entrance, I especially like 1, 2 and would really like 4 if it wasn’t for the border.
I find the green border on 4 is a bit of a colour clash, and another colour might work better, although I’m not a fan of frames that are not neutral.
But they are all of excellent from 1 to 5.Martin
BMParticipantHi Oy
Great photographs. I really like them. Some detailed comemntary below – but please remember that you are probably much better at this than I am, but heartfelt critique is what you get here!
I found the cyclist and the pole to his right in the first a bit distracting. A great photograph, nonetheless.
The 2nd is the kind of photograph that I would love to be able to take. Perhaps a different angle (higher shooting position) to seperate the ring of stones more from the tress in teh mid distance. But teh clouds and teh shadows on teh hill make this one for me.
The tird one is a great photograph and a great use of shutter speed (and HDR?) in the slight waves in the foreground.
The fourth looks over-processed to me (something that I am very guilty of). I find I need to push the sky sometimes to bring out detail that just isn’t there. I was wondering if that was the case here?
I get a sense that HDR was used in all of these photographs. Was that the case? In most cases it has worked well. I find in most of my seascapes that HDR spoils the waves – makes them look a bit artificial – there is something about the waves in the fourth that I find offputing. The fifth is also a photograph I would love to be able to take. Great sense of depth, with the hills falling away to teh distance. There also seems to be a shimmer on teh water as if from a slight breeze that is very effective – upsets the reflections and makes it very real.
I’d love to know where were these taken.
Hope to see more from you – if these are anything to go by, we’re in for a treat.
Regards,
Brianp.s. I need to learn to tpye!

1. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Gathurst, Wigan, Lancashire.
2. Castlerigg Stone Circle with Blencathra behind. Near Keswick in the Lake District
3. and 4. St Ives in Cornwall
5. Blea Tarn with the lAngdale Pikes behind – The Lake District.

RobertoMemberAll of them have their own magic and atmosphere!
I can’t say which one is the best because all of them are great!
Only one my thought about the first photo – maybe the cyclist would be better on the front… maybe…JMcLParticipantI’m catching up a bit here, but this is a cracking set. The first 2 would be my personal picks, I particularly love the light in the 2nd, but all are very good indeed. Looking forward to seeing more!
