First Timer 10stop ND
-
JMac-2006Participant
Finally got some motivation and went to the coast this morning. Brushed off the new ND10 filter that i still haven’t used since buying it before Xmas.
Here’s three from this morning.andy mcinroyParticipantVery good Jason, particularly the first one.
I look forward to seeing more of your efforts with this filter.
Alan RossiterParticipantI agree with Andy (agreement…on this site…huh?) ;-). I love B&W images with the ND110 and the first I like. Personally I’d go for more minimalist representation (lose the rocks) but that’s purely a personal preference.
Keep them coming.
Alan.
Not Pete the blokeParticipantRobMemberBMParticipantcarrigmanParticipantExcellent results. I have one but haven’t used it in ages. These shots have prompted me to start using it again.
Regards,
JMac-2006ParticipantThanks Guys, that’s a good start, definitely going to keep working on these.
The funny thing is I was set up with tripod in Sandycove at the Forty Foot and there were bathers walking and swimming, one guy even dived off right in front of me, all while the shutter was open in the first and third and they don’t even register on the image.
Had a bit of a laugh with them all the same – they are a brave lot – must have been sub zero in the water

Where did you manage to buy the 10 stop filter?
Great shotsI got it on warehouse express website – think it was about £25-30 – which is cheap by Dublin standards. You’ll pay a bit more depending on the thread size of your lens
derrycityParticipantgreat set of shots #1 & 2 for me
i have been trying to get one of these filters but cant get it at 72mm or is this cokin/lee ?MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantHi Jason, wonderufl results! You should do more, what was the shutterspeed? i am very impressed by the transparency of no 2. it looks like sunset to me? was the sea gentle?
Just visited your website, some great jewels there. cheers M*
JMac-2006ParticipantThanks for the comments,
Madeleine, the shutter speed ranged from 120 to 180 seconds, it was 9am yesterday morning, in #2 I was protected by the rocks so only gentle waves.
I probably broke some rules with placement of horizon but it just seemed right for the images – nobody mentioned it so probably not a bad thing
mgstParticipantlovely set and really like the simple composition and conversion of the first.
Mick
MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantthanks for the answers. i never spend much time with longterm exposures but i will try. Rules? I don’t think there are rules but when an image looks unbalanced then the 1:2 horizon placement can do wonders (;
Your images are so relaxed well done.
M*cathaldParticipantNice job Jason I will have to dust off the old 10 stop it has not been out for a while
