First Wedding – C&C welcome
-
deeorganParticipant
Hi,
Well, I did it. My first wedding as the main photographer. It was a family one. Few drawbacks to doing that are not getting to socialise with other guests all day. They know you too well also, and it makes the job more difficult. I’ve just sent them the link to the pictures also, so not heard any response yet.
I’ve uploaded all the pictures onto Smugmug for the guests to see.
You can see more here

Thanks,
DeeeasParticipantwell done Dee, I’m sure they’ll be very happy with what you’ve done.
I don’t have much as far as critique really. They’re all lit quite well and sharp. Myself I’d give a few of them a touch more contrast and possibly some other pp touches.
I don’t doubt that you’ll get more people asking for your talents.
GCPParticipantDee, well done. I had a look at the link you sent me and will go through them with you when we sit down next. It had to be a tough one as family weddings are a pure nightmare and should be avoided by any photographer as your own family just will not co-operate with you.
Anyway Dee, well done …… there’s a good wedding album there and have no worries about it. You did a great job also on the formals as they can be the hardest to get. I really would not have known that it was your first wedding – the whole presentation is very good and well up there with most wedding photographers. Nice style and good attention to minor details ………. after 2 shoots together I even got some great ideas from you.
I knew you would have no problems after seeing you perform on our first day out – you got on so well with everybody and won their confidence – (no female approached me to stay on with her for the evening but Dee had offers from many of the male guests !!   ) – and I’m glad to see that that priest on our second day did not put you off – there are a few of his type still alive !.
Talk soon
PeteMcDMemberHi Dee! That’s a cracking picture of the gents. Really great expressions in that one.
I had a look through the whole gallery too. The thing that is really outstanding for me, is your use of wide lenses and how close you get. What also comes across is the raport that you have with the guests- there is really good engagement with the subjects. There’s not one photo where a guest is giving the ‘are you pointing that camera at me again?’ look. Testament to the trust you gained as Gerry mentioned.
You first wedding- I wouldn’t have believed it.
My only suggestion is to spend some time on post processing. This would take the images to the next level. Maybe you were planning to do that for the final selections, I don’t know. Its not a criticism. You’ve done a fine job.
deeorganParticipantThanks very much for the comments. I feel I still have a long way to go towards creating really classy professional shots at weddings. I’ll keep snapping and posting and hopefully we’ll all see improvements.
I’ve made a smaller selection of images from the day(my preferred ones) and re-edited and posted them here. Having got some feedback, I made another attempt at PP, so hope these are improved.
Thanks :)
Dee
