I’d appreciate any feedback I can get.
looking forward to improving my flash technique and doing another wedding this Saturday. So any tips?brownieParticipantHad a look at all the set…great photos..get out their and
do your own thing from now on..nothing stopping you..good
technique, composition and exposure…really nice and my
only tip would be to keep doing what you are doing.Well done.Noel.
summerdreamnMemberfantastic! congratulations on landing the second shooter gig. you’re well on your way!
GCPParticipantWell done Dee. Great images there and considering you only got the flash unit for the first time on Friday evening you did really, realy, well.
OK ……. I was the main photographer on the day and leaving the photography aside I have to say that this girl has great potential as a wedding photographer. The approach, personality and ability to be relaxed in the “excitement” was excellent.
The ability to get the job done with minimum fuss and without getting peoples backs up is very important. I was also very impressed by the way she comunicated with the couple, guests and hotel managers. It certainly did not look like her first day out.I think I’ll have competition ……….. or she may just buy me out !!!
AllinthemindParticipantThere are some crackers in that batch, well done for a first time out ndeed. As Gerry says, rapport and control skills are as important as photography skills :)
Couple of thoughts.
You’re getting some great expressions, this is what good wedding photography is about for me, telling the story of the day using the expressions on the couples faces, as well as the guests (the groom’s face when he first sees the bride walking down the aisle etc).
Watch out for shots where the flash is sidelighting, you get nasty shadows on the wall behind them. You can soften the edges of these shadows in PS (in emergency), or better still use a flash bracket, better still bounce the flash off a reflector held over your head (this could be a white shirt, a wall, anything).
http://www.oneperfectmoment.com/ Neil Van Neikerk’s work, also some great articles on using flash. The post processing is a little heavy in some of them. A bit of judicious dodging and burning is fine, but some of them have almost black vignettes on them, again, this is fine for some but they are a little heavy in some.
Again though, for a first outing they are excellent. Some really well spotted and shot “Moments”,

deeorganParticipantThank you everyone for your encouraging responses, I’m really surprised and pleased of course.
Brownie: Thank you soo much, having seen your wonderful landscapes, I’m thrilled you liked them.
summerdreamn: Cheers honey, as always your a gem.
Allinthemind: Your comments and advice is greatly appreciated… I have a lot of practising to do, with that flash, going try make a better Bounce card for next time, see how I get on with that. I’d love to have had the bracket too, will have to go buy one… all these gadgets really do add up though don’t they…
Last but by no means least,
Gerry: I’m am sooo grateful to you for your patience and generosity. You are a true professional and have been extremely kind to me. It was great working with you, I learned so much, your rapour with the Bride and Groom, the guests… everyone was great. I heard so many of them talking about how wonderful you were. I have much to learn from you. Looking forward to the next time. Thanks a million.
