damiendParticipant
does anyone know where i could pick up a flash diffuser that fits the canon 580, has anyone used them and found them helpful in cutting down the harsh shadows from direct falsh. when you cant bounce it.
nfl-fanParticipantstasberMemberDitto, and of course EBay.
It’s handy enough to keep on you and does come in useful from time to time.
damiendParticipantthanks guys… does no one just shop anymore like real people, real shops, handing over money getting the product there and then.
aoluainParticipantwell I dont anymore unless I just need it NOW!
I priced a tripod collar for a Canon 70-200 F4 L lens
in a camera shop in Galway earlier this year and was quoted
(for a genuine canon branded)
“Around €110.00”I got one from Hong Kong via E-Bay for less than €40.00 !
genuine canon, works and fits as it should happy days. The tax and god only know what we pay here really
pumps up the prices of goods in general.Alan

Fraid not… I am actually a cyborg from the future… not a real person.
Did you by any chance get up of your real backside and go down to your local real camera store(s) and have a look yourself?
stasberMemberSome things are worth shopping locally for, others are best where cheapest.
Do you really want to pay 20 quid for a piece of plastic that you can easily get for less than 5, shipping included? If a shop had it for 10 then I’d consider supporting the shop but any more than that is taking the biscuit.

I’m with Stasber on this one. I know there’s the whole ‘support the small shop’ scenario. But sorry, with the prices that places like Conn’s are charging for equipment, there’s no way now I’ll do that now.
For instance (for today’s exchange rate through xe.com and from both websites…)
Calumet (up in Belfast) for a 1DS Mark III
€5,998.16
And now in Conn’s my ‘local’ shop…
€6999.99
Hmmm….now all of a sudden supporting Irish shops doesn’t quite seem to make sense…

You have a price available? Doesn’t seem to be on your url link.

I agree. Much as I like to support local businesses, my bank account also needs help. Also, all too often what I’m looking for isn’t in stock locally but has to be ordered in, so it’s not possible to “get the product there and then”. Frequently it’s not only cheaper, but also quicker, to buy online.

I guess most think it just all comes down to price.
Of course it comes down to price. When you have the atrocious prices that the high street shops are charging in Dublin it forces you to shop online.
