Flash for 500d

Anyone recommend a flash for my 500d that won’t break the bank please. I have a Speedlite 430EZ from my old eos 650 film camera but not sure that will work,think only in M mode?

Also thinking of selling my Canon EOS 650,what would be a realistic price to be asking for it?

In the same boat here myself for my 550d. Have heard a lot of good things about the Nissin(link below), as a cheaper alternative to the Speedlites, has TTl compatability too. Although can’t vouch myself for it as haven’t used it.
Would love to hear some advice too!

I’ve got this flash gun (which Philip recomm) is FANTASTIC, now my wife use it with 500D :-)

actually, this prcie is very good IMO, i bought main about one year ago for 88 euro from china so i had to pay duty as well :-(

and i forgot to tell , than i dropped twice this flash on concrete , the case is cracked, but the lamp is till working in 100% :-)

Hiya, don’t forgrt to factor in some dosh for a diffuser, otherwise your pics might come out all harsh and nasty with direct flash
