Flashes for RZ67 Pro II

  • Hey guys,
any experience of using flashes on the hotshoe for the Mamiya RZ67 Pro II? I have a Canon 580EXII and wondered if its good to hook it up and fire away, or whether people have had problems using this set up?

    Thanks.

Just shoot a role of film with them both and see what happens….

Well, I think I’m more concerned about screwing up the electronics in the camera, so going ahaed and just shooting might not be the best route.
    Thanks though!

I own and use a Mamiya RZ67II regularly for the last few years, its a tank of a camera, well able to look after itself, I don’t think you will have any problems :-) Just have fun…

I’d second the concern about the electronics, the 580 is dedicated to Canon,as you know, and probably shoots at a frequency way outside what your camera is designed for, I read somewhere, probably boards, that you can fry your dedicated flash by using it on manual camera’s. Your best bet if you want dedicated is to go for a Metz or similar with a sca, you get all the ttl and ettl stuff that way. The flash go fairly cheap online,I picked up a metz cl1 for 40 quid a while back, which works fine with my etrsi without the sca,,which cost about €50 for bronica btw. In say all that,I’d rather just use a normal non dedicated flash on the hot shoe or a sync lead rather than risk the canon if I were you.

great, thanks for all the info guys!
