You’d get tired looking at herons at this stage just standing there, various locations, etc but not much else happening. This is rather different and gives the heron a whole new appeal.
Now, if only you could get a robin to do something similar…
Thanks Lads, Joe I agree i would like a little more in the front of him, He was a hard one to catch kept changing direction. On this shot he raised 10ft away so I got lucky.
On the flight shots I’ve taken to zooming back out a bit and leaving rooms for legs and wingtips. That leaves me room to crop appropriately (what else would I use all those megapixies for?) as long as the image is sharp. And it also leaves room in front, just in case the bird gets ahead of my lens tracking.
