Not really Jenny. They are found in acidic soils under birch and spruce. Found these in a clearing in a Coillte plantation this morning. They are poisonous but rarely fatal. Hard to find perfect specimens before the slugs do! This is my third year trying to get a shot of these. Was too late last year and the one before.
beautiful! i once knew of a vast quantity growing under an oak, although they are not there anymore for whatever reason!
This is a real nice one! Love how the colours have come out and that the two are fairly different shape! I think it would work as well if you’d straighten it :)
Thanks for the comments. Used a polarizing filter and a home made tinfoil reflector to bounce a bit of light underneath. Will try a straightened version Vee, but I quite like the slight angle. Its the way I found them.. Thanks all.
