I designed up a flyer today for a couple of my lady model friends to hand out a the car shows over the next few months! Thought i would post it up to see what you all think ?
I am getting 5000, Gloss, A5 on 130gsm paper for £57.00 i dont think thats to bad as 1 job will cover the flyers!
I plan on doing the same but on a bigger scale once the studio is finished but with a flyer dedicated to weddings, family portraits etc.. there is a local company that do door to door delivery for very little.
Has anyone else tried to promote there business like this ? was it worth it or a total waste of money ?
Ricky.
nfl-fanParticipantI think its a great idea… shows initiative… and even if you only got one gig at least your costs would be covered.
Not sure whether people would be bothered about the Canon, Sigma, Manfrotto stuff.. might even be confusing.. but no major harm either.
Initiative is good, hunting down potential customers… better than fellas coming in here and moaning about communion photos
If you had a stall or some large samples around whatever venues you plan to target it would certainly get people’s attention.
RGH_PhotographyMemberI am actully waiting on a quote for a purpose made market stand that will suit fairs, shows and markets. It will be a walk- in stand were i can exibit and sell images both landscape and portraits alike. One of my taxi customers just happens to be a retired engineer with his own workshop BONUS!
PixelleMemberI don’t like the font used in “Auto Portraiture” Maybe it’s my eyes, but I think it should be easier to read.
ThorstenMemberGreat idea. I’ve thought about something like this myself, but of course thinking about it and doing it are two different things  The price you’re getting these at looks pretty good to me, but I’ve never priced anything like this before, so I don’t really know.
I’m not so sure about using the photographic or car logos on the background. If these manufacturers were sponsoring you, yes I would agree, but I doubt that they are, so why give them free “air-time”? Also, you want to make very sure that you don’t run into copyright or trademark violation issues in using them. One could argue that by using them, they are endorsing your service, which I doubt is the case. Just tread carefully on that one.
deeorganParticipantHi.
I’ve done simular flyers for Christmas portraits and used them as something to hand to people when doing door-to-door sales.
I’ve found that they are worth it as long as you can explain everything to them face-to-face at the same time.
Dropping them in letter boxes doesn’t get any sales… in my experience.I used http://www.flyer24.ie and got a good price.
Best of luck
DeeBrian_CParticipantFair fecks to ya ricky. I can’t comment on the flyer as it’s blocked here in work, but fair play to ya all the same. I like the lady friends handing out the flyers idea  and I know you do a load of car stuff, a guy I work with has come accross you before and told me about your site, so word is getting about. Have you considered getting your flyers into the local town tattler or local business monthly town flyer.
See the idea on stalls, I’d given some thought to this, but my life is just too busy at the moment. Love to hear how that one goes.
Have you considered, farmers markets, country fairs, that type thing. I presume at car boots, punters will be looking for a bargain and may not part with readies, but I suppose it’s worth a crack.
Another thing if you want return on investment is to seriously look at Google-Ads. They do work!! (duh I shoulda kept that one on the QT)
Top marks for initiative!!
RGH_PhotographyMemberI wouldnt be bothered with car boot sales but the fairs and markets would be a possibilty ! The main reason is for the ‘Ould Lammas Fair’ as the moyle council wanted me to pitch last year. they are desprate for stands other than chip vans and ice cream vans lol
Who is the fella you work with, do know him ?
TacticalMemberI printed out my business cards in small quantity on photo paper and cut out appropriately.
Printed the first few on my good inkjet to see how they turned out and went to the local one hour self service print outlet for a handful.
I found this far cheaper than a full gloss from a professional business card printer for my needs anyways.
Great idea for the flyers, never thought of that route.
Brian_CParticipantHey Ricky, how did the ‘Ould Lammas Fair’ go, it was on there the other week right???? Anything to report?? Will you be putting a down payment on that villa in Spain as a result?
constantineParticipantReally nicely done, and a great idea.
I’d say you’ll get a nice return out of it. Good luck with it.
