Edit…. I had originally posted this image with much more saturated colours. But after looking at them for a while & may I say some advice from some good people. I brought the saturation levels back to a more realistic level in an effort to show them more realistically.
These are really excellent. Don’t think I’ve seen shots as detailed as these of insects in flight.
No.3 is particularly stunning.
How did you go about setting these up? You really must have the patience of a saint?

The setup was really quite simple really. What made a difference for these was I found a new Wasps nest in the side of our house. This way I was guaranteed a flight path which, as you know, is the hardest thing to get with insects. All taken on a Tripod with EF-S 60mm Macro, Extension tube, Ringlite, f/16 250ms. I set the lense to manual and carefully adjusted the focus then waited. It took a while to get the timing right. But after a while I was able to judge their take off and landing speed quite well.Dave
