For people who post small thumbnails…

JohnnyMcMillanParticipant
Is there any chance you can post images up independantly from sites, instead of having to link elsewhere to view an image..seems alot of people are doing it these days…it’s basic html and image resizing and I don’t know about anyone else, but it’s a tad bit annoying…sorry rant over.
ExpresbroParticipantHi Johnny..
My pics have a link on them…because that is part of Flikr’s terms of contract. But there is no need to follow the link as I always post at least a Medium size image anyway.
I assume you are speaking only about thumbnails anyway?
Cheers
Robbie
8)JohnnyMcMillanParticipantThanks Expresbro…I’m more talking about the small thumbnails that people post up
PeteTheBlokeMemberNot every one has your skills and expertise with basic HTML, Johnny.
I tend to agree about the resizing. Posting up 3000 pixel images is a bit thick and every camera/scanner comes with a resizing option.
thomasMemberi post thumbnails because its the only way i know how to put an image on the site
i now very little about computers, its something im learning bit by bitif anyone would like to share with me and the others how its done it would be appreciated
JohnnyMcMillanParticipantThomas….the two best ways to put images up on sites…whether it’s PI or anything else, is for you to (as you probably already know) upload the photos to a server on the net that hosts photos…examples of these (well the best two) are either flickr….or photobucket
With flickr and with a basic account that you don’t have to pay for…you can upload photos and copy and paste the code that it gives to use for sites to show either small/medium/original sizes of your images.
The same goes with photobucket which is free and is probably easier to use. With photobucket you paste the code that starts with [IMG]…
But with photobucket you have to resize your images beforehand (but then again I think there is an option to decide as to what size you want to upload them as…)
I just know that from now…I just ain’t arsed clicking on images that people post as small thumbnails…in my mind, if people can’t spend the time to upload photos properly…I ain’t spending my time looking
thomasMemberthanks Johnny
i didnt know, but now i do !
ill get it sorted
cheers :wink:ValentiaMemberearthairfireParticipantYou do know it’s the default way to upload pics onto the site, johnny?
Tim
thomasMembergot meself on the the photobucket
and posted a couple last night
no more thumbnails for me
feel quite proud of myself :)JohnnyMcMillanParticipantEarthairfire…I didn’t know that…..my apologies if that’s the case, i still think it’s the wrong way to post images though
MarkKeymasterYep postimage is the default way to post. Ideally people will use alternative methods, eg the PI gallery itself
which gives you space for 50 images (might be increasing it), flickr, pbase etc…jlangParticipantI think it’s possible to replace the link to postimage with a similar one to imageshack.us which isn’t perfect, but wouldn’t have the thumbnails only problem. I haven’t done it, but they give some instructions on their pages – some template reprogramming required :) .
Edit: on second thoughts, it probably defaults to placing the thumbnail too.
