Tokina AT-X 300mm f2.8 SD Canon FD Mount Manual Focus Lens (Grey Japanese version – rare!) + More Canon Items – REDUCED PRICE
Posted on 20 Mar 07. Sale is still open until otherwise posted here.
Item location is in Co. Longford, Ireland.Asking price for the lot = 650 EURO or Your Best Offer Please!
I am selling this lens along with my other canon camera gear if the offer is right.
The lens is in spotless condition, cosmetically and mechanically. It has just a few minor cosmetic marks on the barrel, but otherwise it is as good as it gets for a second hand lens. I would rate it as in excellent condition (8.5 out of 10; 10 being brand new). Mechanically it is sound fully functional at all working apertures.
The TOKINA 300mm f2.8 lens comes with the following:
1) A modified rigid lenshood (no effect on function)
2) original black leather hard case
3) front and back lens caps
4) 35.5mm drop in rear skylight filter
5) Canon T70 camera
6) Canon 50mm f1.8 FDn lens (unfortunately with slight fungus infection, but only at the lens edges – no effect on photos )
7) 1.5x Kiron MC Matchmate teleconverter with both caps, and lens case
2x Tokina 7-element RMC DOUBLER with both caps, instructions and lens case
9) Canon FD breech-lock 28mm SC f2.8 lens
10) Canon 60T3 remote release cable (~60 cm long remote shutter release, with a lock for Bulb exposure)
11) Canon Speedlite 277T dedicated FlashPlease note that the Tokina 300mm lens does not come with the original 112mm UV filter.
All items for sale are in very clean cosmetic conditions, and in full working order! The only item with a problem is the Canon 50mm f1.8 FDn lens.

Here is a quick summary for the Tokina lens:
The AT-X 300mm F2.8 SD is a super fast, wide aperture telephoto lens, which provides high definition and super sharpness even with the aperture wide open at f2.8. Two large SD (super-low dispersion) glass elements in the first optical group correct chromatic aberrations and create accurately focused colour. This exceptional optical performance is maintained down to its minimum focus distance of 8 feet (2.4 meters). A long time before Nikon and Canon high-end lenses appeared on the market, Tokina were offering their pro-spec big telephotos in gray finish (albeit only to the Japanese market only).

Lens Mechanics and Cosmetics
Glass: Excellent. No haze, dust, or fungus in the lens. No marks on the coating.Mechanics: Perfect. No problems at all with the internal focusing – this operates smoothly all the way from infinity to 2.4m without any flat spots or glitches. The specially-engineered IF system allows focusing with only one finger! The aperture diaphragm moves as it should and is free from oil.
Lens Mount: Excellent. As with all independent maker lenses, the mount is the circular rotating breechlock. There is no play in the connection between lens and body when mounted. No appreciable paint wear to the mount – apertures may be selected in half stops between f4- f32, and full stops f2.8 – f4. Green ‘A’ setting is fully accessible & 100% operational.
Barrel Cosmetics: Good to Excellent. No paint wear visible, apart from one 7mm long strip of paint missing from the focussing ring. The black ring which carries the depth of field scale has paint wear at the black, and the highlighted info has faded.
Rigid Lens Hood: Excellent. There is no damage or problems that affect the mounting of the hood. The hood can be reversed in the usual manner for transport & storage. There are no marks in the paint, however the rear of the hood (not visible when mounted) displays some wear marks. Some scuffing in the felt from usual usage internally (almost all hoods have some scuffing inside from taking the hood on and off lenses in the reverse storage position). The mount screw for the hood appears to be modified by the previous owner. However, this has not effect on the function of the hood.
Tripod mount Cosmetics: Fair. There is considerable cosmetic wear. Screw threads are fine. The tripod mount rotates around the lens as usual and has click stops at 90 degrees for landscape and portrait format shooting.
Original Tokina AT-X Hard Lens Case
External condition: Good. This case has not been used that much. The metal latch works without trouble.
Internal condition: Very Good. No damage or problems that would affect the case’s ability to protect the lens.Front Lens Cap: Fair. This cap fits and removes perfectly, but is a replacement (non original). Internally the cap is felt-lined, and is fits snugly.
NOTE: the Tokina 112mm Front MC Normal UV Filter does not come with this sale!
