So I took what you might call a mental health day today, skipped college, and went out in a snowstorm to Castletown forest to take photos!
A Couple of one set, there’ll be other posts too!
All comments welcome of course![/img]
SeaviewParticipantThree very nice shot, I really like number 2 but I think it’s a little underexposed as the snow looks very grey.
Glad you enjoyed your day off collage.
Dave.
MallachtParticipantGizzoParticipantI pick the second but as Dave says, pay attention to the exposure…
snow must be white ;)plainoldmeMemberReally Gizzo I had no idea ;)
Ah well, at least I got one nice one :lol:PeteWMemberI like the second one but I think more could have been made of the fence in terms of lead-in, getting up close, leaning on it, let the eye get drawn into the mysterious misty village scene….
lousyParticipantFrom memory Meghan, and IMO these are some of your best work… they really caught my attention. OK the snow is not white, but composition is very nice.
Have you ever heard of the ‘grey card trick’ or try metering off the palm of your hand which is the equivilent of a grey card then recompose and in theory you should get white snow.Cheers.

spudMemberhowdy peeps. :) ive looked at all ur photos on teh snow today Lucky sod with ur day off .. :P and i must say i like them all but the first one on this page i realy like, the only thing i see wrong is teh few spots on it which is easy fixed
plainoldmeMemberCheers guys.
Pat – Never heard that before but sounds quite like a handy trick indeed. Thanks for that! And thank you for that bit of praise I’m chuffed. Really happy with some of these, and the one I posted of my mam in the People section, just love it!
Spud – The first is my favourite too. I don’t know why it just is! Yeah the glass seriously needs some cleaning after today. It was pulled in and out of my jacket and well as trying to shoot in a thick snowstorm, its time to splash out for a lens cleaning kit! Used my new polariser today too, well happy with the results so far.Seems luck was on my side today folks, but I’ve definitely got the bug back again so there’ll be plenty more ;)
spudMemberlol i just send mine of for cleaning every now and then because its free for some reason where i bought it :). and i duno about luck :D
