So good it’s even mentioned on Sky website.

Most snooker players who foul the ball will admit straight away.

If a city dealer cheats, it’s a criminal offence.

If a footballer does it, it’s part of the game.

Pity it had to be the minister for justice and not the minister for “sport” & tourism. Fair play to him though

I think the ball is firmly in the french court in this situation.

    FIFA will kick to touch.
Creating a precedent like this ………

I think they would agree to a replay if the french request it.

A similar (kind of) situation occurred in 1999 when Arsenal’s Kanu set up Overmars
to score a winning goal in an FA Cup match against Sheffield United after
the Sheffield United goalkeeper kicked the ball to touch to allow an injured
    player receive treatment.

Arsenal offered to replay the match.
FA off the hook. Everybody happy.
    The result didn’t change though.

    You never know. :?
Maybe fairplay will break out in reality.

I think that it will all boil down to how much revenue they can all make out of it as usual. 60 million French fans V’s 4 Million Irish. We should have had our GAA football players playing for us, at least then everyone could handle the ball FAIRLY.

Just heard that FIFA has rejected any chance of a replay.

Fair Play cannot compete with economics (and brown envelopes).

So, the message to the amateur leagues and the kids learning the sport: cheating is OK as long as you win and get away with it. Fair play, honesty and integrity are irrelevant.

The Beautiful Game? I think not. The stinking, smelly, corrupt game … yes

And THE CHEAT has been very quiet since.

What was the headline the French newspaper l’Equipe chose for its front page the day after the infamous game? “La main de Dieu”. The Hand of God, a reference 23 years on to the Argentine’s notoriety. Now, after the events in the Stade de France, Henry is forever linked with the cheat Maradona. Even if he were to lead his team to victory in Johannesburg next July, scoring a hat trick of beautiful goals in the final and then donating his winner’s cheque to the local Aids foundation, the hand that lifts the cup will be forever regarded as
tainted. A replay, however, especially if he himself proposed one, would go a long way to erasing such a stain on his character.

Definition of sport: ORIGIN Old French desporter ‘carry away’
I suppose Henry was sportlike so in ‘carrying away’ what should have been an Irish victory.

I hope it goes to a replay for Thierry Henry’s sake as much as Ireland’s.

T’was a good point that Jim White made in his write up I posted. During his glory days at Arsenal he was arguably the best player in the world… but if this result stands all he’ll ever be remembered for is the handball.

True – I always admired him.

To be fair, THE CHEAT Thierry Henry has stated that a replay is the fairest outcome.

But it’s the end of his reputation – every time he is mentioned on TV in future, THE FOUL will be shown.

of course, its all about money and revenue!

The reason the qualifiying round was changed was make sure a higher
number of BIG TIME teams like FRANCE, SPAIN, ENGLAND, PORTUGAL,
ITALY, ETC got through to s.africa.

France has a population of over 60 milion v’s ireands 4.2 million the revenue
from france and in france will be far greater than over here.

Cheating has been a part of the game ever since I watched it, diving in and
around the penalty box looking for penalties and free kicks, defenders pushing
and shoving forwards when the free comes in, hard and soft tackling not been seen
    and wrongly allowed . . .
